Montado VR 2023

Montecastro Reserva Ribera del Duero DO 2021

Meticulously selected Tinto Fino and Merlot grapes from various vineyards of Bodegas y Viñedos Montecastro, where some of the vines are over 100 years old. Aged for 18 months in high-quality French and American oak barrels: The Montecastro Reserva Ribera del Duero has everything it takes to be a Spanish red wine in the “exceptional” category. For many years, Bodegas y Viñedos Montecastro in northern Spain has been crafting excellent red wines, and the Montecastro Reserva is undoubtedly one of them.In the glass, it displays a deep, dark, almost impenetrable red with a violet sheen. The Tinto Fino (90%) offers a fascinatingly complex bouquet of fresh fruits such as blueberries, black cherries, raspberries, and plums. Nuances of citrus fruits also enrich the bouquet. Added to this are herbal notes and subtle mineral tones, as well as—thanks to aging in high-quality oak—hints of vanilla, toasted aromas, and barrique. On the palate, this dry Reserva from the Ribera del Duero region is juicy, full-bodied, and captivatingly fruity. The density and depth of its aromas are impressive. Aromas of ripe dark berries interact beautifully with toasty notes, as well as aromas of cocoa and eucalyptus. Added to this is a lovely spiciness. The tannins are masterfully integrated, and the long-lasting finish rounds out the tasting experience.Enjoy this fine red wine from Spain at a serving temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. The Reserva is a perfect pairing for oven-roasted beef tenderloin with rosemary potatoes and green beans with bacon. It’s also ideal with game.
