The Aaldering Shiraz is a wine full of elegance and complexity. It is redolent of dark cherries, raspberries, cloves and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, showing a clear structure and a long finish. This Shiraz from the Devon Valley in the Stellenbosch region was aged for more than 20 months in French oak casks, of which only 15% were new barrels, giving the Shiraz grapes as much scope as possible to develop their great elegance. The rest of the barrels were second- and third-fill oak casks.This is a wonderful Shiraz with predominantly dark and spicy notes. There are quite a few people who claim that Aalto wines represent the best of Spanish viticulture in the Ribera del Duero region. Every year, the Aalto wines are once again compared to those produced by the Vega Sicilia estate, and the Aalto wines often win by a nose. For more than 30 years, Mariano García Fernández, the founder of the Aalto winery, was responsible for the wines produced by the Vega Sicilia estate, of which he was the Technical Director. With his own Bodega Aalto, García Fernández wants to achieve the best result without losing respect for the grapes. In creating his wines, he strives for the maximum expression of the terroir, uniting structure and power with elegance and complexity. The Aalto was characterised by a warm winter’s end and an early spring with early flowering. Sufficient rain in summer and a dry autumn led to grapes of an optimal quality. The grapes come mainly from very old vines that are up to 80 years old.The pure varietal Tempranillo (in the Burgos and Valladolid region better known as Tinto Fino) is a cherry red in colour. The wine offers fine notes of spices on the nose, along with light flavours of well-integrated wood. On the palate, the Aalto is wonderfully fresh and dense. Notes of tobacco, coffee and subtle aromas of liquorice reveal the unique style so typical of this Aalto. Due to its soft and round character, the wine can already be enjoyed young. Owing to the soft, enclosing tannins and a good acidity, the Aalto will increase its complexity over the coming years. The ageing of the wine in half new and half used barrels ofAmerican and French oak ensures that it will store well in the bottle. Enjoy the Aalto with a lovely beef roast or simply on its own in front of the fireplace.

The Alto Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of dark fruit, cedar wood and spices in its spicy bouquet, along with mineral notes and nuances of dark chocolate. It is rich and concentrated on the palate, with a balanced structure. Weinkritiker Greg de Bruyn beschreibt das Bouquet in Platter’s Wine Guide so: „Waldboden-Erdigkeit, jodhaltige Mineralität und saftige Cassis-Frucht, durchzogen von Tabakwürze.“Am Gaumen ist der Rotwein aus der Stellenbosch-Region trocken und vielschichtig, mit großer Konzentration und Frische. Die schöne Mineralität und die aromatische Tiefe (dunkle Beeren im Vordergrund) runden das Geschmackserlebnis ab. „Geschmeidig und rund nach 18 Monaten in größtenteils neuem Eichenholz“, urteilt auch de Bruyn. Der warme Jahrgang 2018 brachte Trauben mit sehr konzentrierten Aromen hervor. Thus, the vines are cooled by a fresh breeze in the afternoon, supporting the wine’s elegance and balance. The Alto Rouge is a deep ruby-red in the glass. On the nose, aromas of red fruit are predominant, along with hints of chocolate and light notes of woodchips. This cuvée is distinguished by its soft tannins and wonderful fruit aromas. Overall, this is a wine with style, lots of complexity and a high ageing potential. Winemaker Bertho van de Westhuizen recommends enjoying the Alto Rouge with game birds and tender red meat.

Der Alvi´s Drift Albertus Viljoen Red Bismarck ist ein südafrikanischer Rotwein aus der Region Western Cape. Es handelt sich um einen sogenannten Blend aus insgesamt 8 Rebsorten. Ein wunderbar robuster Wein mit einer undurchsichtig roten Farbe und einer komplexen Nase mit Gewürzen, Vanille, weißem Pfeffer und großzügigen Portionen reifer Brombeeren und Pflaumen. Der Wein hat feste Tannine, wird aber mit der Fülle reifer Früchte zu einem nahezu nahtlosen, wunderbar eleganten Topwein. Der Albertus Viljoen Red Bismarck Wein hat einen langanhaltenden, unvergesslichen Abgang. Nach der Gärung wurde der Wein 12 Monate lang in französischen und amerikanischen Eichenfässern gereift und dann vor der Abfüllung gemischt, was ihn herrlich komplex und breit macht.Genießen Sie den Alvi´s Drift Albertus Viljoen Red Bismarck zu einem herzhaften Ochsenschwanzeintopf, einer Wildpastete oder zu gegrilltem intensiv gewürztem Hähnchen.Wie kam der Wein zu seinem Namen?Der Wein wurde nach Bismarck benannt, der geliebten Deutschen Dogge des Weinguts und Hüterin des Kellers. Beim Verreaux Pinotage handelt es sich um den absoluten Spitzenwein des Weingutes Alvi´s Drift aus Südafrika. Die Trauben des Flagship Range Weins stammen aus der Region Walker Bay. Diese hat ein mediterranes Mikroklima mit einer reichen Bodenvielfalt und Wasser vom lebensspendenden Breede River. Daraus entsteht ein bemerkenswerter Wein mit einzigartigem Charakter und Komplexität. Der Alvi´s Drift Verreaux Pinotage hat eine dunkle, rubinartige Farbe und besticht durch Aromen von Vanille, Süßholzwurzel und einem Hauch von Gewürzen, ergänzt durch reiche Noten von Brombeeren, Schwarzkirschen und Pflaumen. Die mittel- bis vollmundigen, packenden Tannine dieses Weins sind wunderbar ausbalanciert mit der Frucht, die sich am Gaumen fortsetzt und verlockend im Mundraum verweilt. Nach der Gärung reift der Wein 22 Monate lang in einer Kombination aus neuen französischen und amerikanischen Eichenfässern. Daraus ergibt sich ein großes Alterungspotenzial und der Rotwein wird von einer sorgfältigen Kellerreifung von 8-10 Jahren noch profitieren.Der Verreaux Pinotage von Alvi´s Drift passt hervorragend zu Wildbraten, gegrilltem Steak oder Entengerichten.
