Der Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend ist ein Rotwein aus Südafrika, der mit nahezu 50 % vor allem von der Rebsorte Shiraz (Syrah) geprägt ist. Der hochwertige, in französischem Eichenholz ausgebaute Blend wird von Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot und Pinotage vervollständigt. Das Ergebnis ist ein Rotwein, der im Endergebnis des Jahrgangs 2021 „bewundernswert“ ist. Dieses Urteil stammt von Christine Rudman, die dem Babel Red Blend in John Platter’s Wine Guide 4 von 5 Sternen verleiht. Das intensive, komplexe Bouquet des rubinroten Weins vereint Noten von Kirschen, Brombeeren, Maulbeeren und Pflaumen. Diese Fruchtigkeit harmoniert wunderbar mit Noten von Vanille, dunkler Schokolade sowie tragenden Eichennoten. Rudman erkennt „dunkle Früchte, Tabak und herzhafte Gewürze“.Am Gaumen ist der Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend trocken und meisterhaft ausgewogen. Die Assemblage besitzt einen vollen Körper, angenehm weiche Tannine und eine dichte Struktur. Das Aromenspiel wird geprägt von saftigen, schwarzen Früchten, die wundervoll harmonieren mit Aromen von Tabak und Graphit. „Das Tanninrückgrat gibt Definition und Fokus“, urteilt Rudman. Das Finale hallt noch lange nach. Genießen Sie den Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend bei einer Trinktemperatur von 16 bis 18 Grad. Château de Pitray Côtes de Castillon 2016

The Château de Pitray of the 2015 vintage is simply a sensation in terms of quality and good value for money. The 2015 vintage is considered the outstanding vintage in the Bordelais region. It produced the best grapes ever in the Bordeaux region’s modern history, alongside 2009 and 2010. The winery is located in Gardegan in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation with its plateaus composed of limestone and clay, situated on the right bank of the Gironde River, just 8 kilometres from Saint-Émilion. This splendid Château has been owned by the Pitray family for 600 years. It would be a worthy setting for every Harry Potter film. The remarkable limestone and clay soils provide excellent conditions for the Merlot grapes that make up 75% of this assemblage. The cuvée of the 2016 de Pitray further consists of 23% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. In the vineyards, interventions in nature are minimised as far as possible; herbicides are not used, for example. The wine matured for 12 months in barriques and offers impressive harmony and elegance. The 2016 Château Pitray can already be enjoyed now but will be a real delight over the next 5-8 years. We recommend decanting the wine at least one hour before drinking it. The wine offers lovely aromas of dark, ripe fruit such as bilberries, blackberries and wild strawberries, wonderfully accompanied by round, fine tannins. Nothing is in the wrong place here. The notes of wood emphasise the wine’s finesse without drowning it. The 2016 Château Pitray has a well-defined, precise bouquet with blackberry and crushed strawberry fruit, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, not much depth here, but very well balanced with a silky smooth finish. This comes highly recommended, since it is usually well priced. The Château de Pitray 2016 is an ideal accompaniment to grilled dishes, game, meat loaf, roast beef and cheeses. It is also lovely on its own to enjoy with friends.

Reichen Sie dazu gut gewürzte Vorspeisenplatten aus italienischen Köstlichkeiten, oder gönnen Sie sich elegante Fleischgerichte mit rustikalem Einschlag. Käse ist ein besonders überzeugender Begleiter, sobald er eine mittlere bis starke Reife erreicht hat.

The Glenwood Grand Duc Noblesse from the Glenwood vineyard is an exceptional sweet wine made from 29-year-old vines that thrive on the well-drained soils of Clovelly and Avalon. Without artificial irrigation, the grapes slowly develop their full aroma.Before pressing, they undergo an additional selection process to guarantee the highest quality. Only the best, noble rotten berries are used. After pressing, the juice is filled into small, selected French oak barrels with a capacity of 225 liters, where it is fermented and fermentation is stopped naturally at 130 g of residual sugar per liter.The result is a harmonious sweet wine with a golden yellow color and seductive notes of nuts, honey and citrus fruits, with subtle similarities to the famous Sauternes. The Glenwood Syrah Grand Duc comes from 29-year-old vines from the Glenwood vineyard and embodies the power and elegance of Syrah at the highest level. The carefully selected grapes ripen on low-density plots, producing small, particularly aromatic berries with intense fruit concentration.50% of the grapes are fermented as whole bunches in small open fermentation vats and gently punched down three times a day until fermentation is complete and dry.
