The Pinot noir grape variety is said to be the queen of the Ahr wine-growing region. This Pinot noir from the Rhineland-Palatinate matured for 17 months in both new and used barriques. The wine shows correspondingly fine and smoky notes that harmonize perfectly with the aromas of red berries such as strawberry and blackberry, cloves and wood, complemented by subtle hints of coffee. In this special vintage, the prestigious Bodegas Juan Gil winery relies entirely on the indigenous Monastrell grape variety, which represents the identity of the region like no other. Vinified as a pure variety, this wine reflects all the depth, power and elegance of old vines - a true masterpiece of Spanish winemaking.In the glass, the wine is a deep cherry red with violet reflections. The intense bouquet seduces with aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries and plums, accompanied by fine nuances such as dark chocolate, roasted coffee, black pepper and garrigue herbs. Powerful and full-bodied on the palate, with ripe fruit, structuring but wonderfully integrated tannins and an elegant woody spiciness. The Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-varietal top red wine from Stellenbosch in South Africa, vinified by star winemaker Abrie Beeslaar. The vines, which are over 30 years old, grow on weathered granite and Hutton soils and produce exceptionally concentrated grapes with a low yield.After traditional mash fermentation in open concrete fermenters and manual punching down of the mash, the red wine matured for 24 months in French oak (50% new).
