Jean Stodden Recher Herrenberg Spätburgunder

The Pinot noir grape variety is said to be the queen of the Ahr wine-growing region. This Pinot noir from the Rhineland-Palatinate matured for 17 months in both new and used barriques. The wine shows correspondingly fine and smoky notes that harmonize perfectly with the aromas of red berries such as strawberry and blackberry, cloves and wood, complemented by subtle hints of coffee. On the palate, the Jean Stodden Recher Herrenberg Pinot Noir is fresh and has a good, clear structure.

In addition, the wine has a lovely depth and a long finish with harmoniously integrated tannins. This high-quality Pinot noir comes from the excellent Herrenberg vineyard located in the Ahr region. The central south-facing steep slopes with their weathered slate soil have gradients of up to 60%, thus providing superb conditions to benefit fully from the intensity of the sun. Elegant and partly powerful Pinot noir wines with a high ageing potential are produced here. Enjoy this Pinot noir with saddle or haunch of venison and pan-fried meals.

Jean Stodden

Hensel Ikarus red wine
The Hensel Ikarus is the flagship of the Thomas Hensel winery and a prime example of the innovative strength of the Palatinate wine scene. Great wines also need great names. So the name derived from Greek mythology is a good choice for the Hensel Ikarus. The wine is only vinified in years with exceptional grapes and is made from the Cabernet Cubin grape variety. This is a new variety from 1970, which is based on a cross between the Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. The Hensel winery in the Palatinate experimented with this grape variety at an early stage. This is why some of the vines are over 40 years old. Although this results in lower yields, the grapes are particularly powerful. The Hensel Ikarus shimmers dark in the glass and has a full berry flavor. The red wine needs some time to open up, so decanting is advisable. Once the wine has opened up, however, the palate experiences ripe berry fruit, an intense coffee note and a tasty tobacco aroma. We recommend a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C.Hensel Ikarus reveals its great potential through its athletic tannins. A wine that will give great pleasure for many years to come - "Feels Like Heaven".
