Das brandneue, moderne Weingut von Tentuta il Poggione wurde vor drei Jahren auf der Spitze eines Hügels in Montalcino mit einer prächtigen Aussicht über das Tal erbaut.

Es ist deshalb auch nicht verwunderlich woher der Name il Poggiona stammt. Er wurde vom italienischen Wort il Poggio, welches der Hügel bedeutet, abgeleitet.

Tenuta il Poggione besitzt 600 Hektar. Davon bestehen 120 Hektar aus Weinbergen auf südlich gelegenen Hängen in einer Höhe von 200-400 Metern. Die Weingärten sind verteilt in 80% Sangiovese und 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc und Merlot. Mehr als die Hälfte der Weingärten wird für die Produktion von Brunello verwendet.

Der nährstoffreiche Boden, die Lage und das Klima tragen dazu bei, dass der Poggio Landi Brunello di Montalcino DOCG weltberühmt ist. Nach einer natürlichen, spontanen Gärung reift der Wein für 38 Monate in 30 Hl und 54 Hl Holzfässern aus französischer Eiche. Danach reift der Poggio Landi Brunello di Montalcino DOCG noch für mindestens sechs weitere Monate in der Flasche. Der Rotwein aus der Toskana bringt hervorragende Eigenschaften für eine lange Lagerung mit.Der Spitzenrotwein bietet in der Nase Aromen reifer roter Früchte, verstärkt durch schwarzen Pfeffer und Lakritz. Am Gaumen hat er eine gute Balance mit anhaltenden Tanninen und Aromen von roten Früchten mit einem Hauch von Gewürzen.
