Bassermann-Jordan Sauvignon Blanc - Fresh Palatinate white wine with varietal characterThe outstanding reputation of the cult winery Geheimer Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan from Deidesheim in the Palatinate is based primarily on its Riesling creations. However, the winegrowers also produce impressive white wines from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The bouquet alone is fascinating: Notes of green bell pepper, grass and pine needles at the beginning, harmonizing over time with the scent of gooseberries and exotic fruits such as passion fruit and grapefruit. Nuances of pepper and cassis round off the whole.On the palate, the Bassermann-Jordan Sauvignon Blanc is dry, fresh and fruity. The Palatinate white wine is also characterized by a fine acidity, a slender body and great complexity. In the finish, aromas of citrus fruits and nuances of ice candy enrich the taste pleasure.The grapes come from different, cooler sites in the Mittelhardt, the northern part of the Palatinate wine-growing region. They are predominantly east-facing. Bassermann-Jordan Ungeheuer Riesling GG trocken 2024

Der Forster Ungeheuer Riesling 2022 ist ein Deutscher Spitzenwein vom Weingut Geheimer Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan. Die Lage Forster Ungeheuer liegt westlich vom Weinort Forst am Hang des Haardtgebirges und verdankt ihren Namen dem früheren Deidesheimer Stadtschreiber Johann Adam Ungeheuer, welcher 1699 verstarb. Schon der ehemalige Reichskanzler Otto von Bismarck soll diesen Wein bewundert haben und sagte über einen Rebsaft aus dieser Lage: "Dies Ungeheuer schmeckt mir ungeheuerlich!" Wie für Bassermann-Jordan üblich, wird auch bei diesem großen Gewächs nichts unversucht gelassen, dem herausragenden Terroir der Lage gerecht zu werden. So werden die Trauben für das 2022er Forster UNGEHEUER GG in mehreren Durchgängen per Hand selektiv gelesen. 60% des Rieslings wurden im Edelstahltank ausgebaut, der Rest im traditionellen Stückfass. Die einzelnen Grundweine verblieben nach der Gärung bis zur Füllung im Juli auf der Vollhefe, was die Intensität, Feinheit und den Fruchtdruck des Weines ungemein erhöht. In der Nase Zitrusfrüchte, Rauch, Kardamon, mineralische Eindrücke und Pfirsich. Am Gaumen imposant strukturiert, etwas salzige Mineralität auf der Zunge, viel Kraft, aber auch Cremigkeit. Der Nachhall ist lang anhaltend und ausgesprochen intensiv. Ein Deutscher Spitzenriesling, aus einer Top-Lage, der noch etwa 4-5 Jahre lang im Keller verbleiben sollte, um die erste Genußreife zu erlangen. Er wird dann dem Weinkenner noch lange Freude bereiten. Der Forster Ungeheuer von Bassermann-Jordan ist ein wunderbarer Solo-Wein; er passt allerdings auch hervorragend zu Meeresfrüchten, thailändischer Küche, Sushi, Schalentieren, gegrilltem Gemüse oder auch zu würzigen Pasta-Gerichten.

Batasiolo Barbera d'Alba DOC 2024

The Batasiolo Barbera d'Alba shimmers ruby red with violet reflections in the glass. This red wine from Piedmont has a wonderfully stimulating aroma of plums and cherries. Floral notes enrich the bouquet (violets and roses). Subtle, spicy notes complete the bouquet.On the palate, this red wine from Piedmont is full-bodied and dry, with a pleasantly mild acidity, lots of fruitiness (sweet, black fruits), nuances of chocolate and a great freshness. The finish is pleasantly soft.The grapes for the Batasiolo Barbera D'Alba are fermented in stainless steel tanks. Around 40 percent of the wine matures for a year in French oak barriques, the rest in large Slavonian oak barrels. The Batasiolo Langhe Nebbiolo combines stimulating fruity notes of raspberries and cherries with nuances of floral tones and a beautiful spiciness in its bouquet. Be Solo DO 2019

It is not always clear at first glance what exactly is behind a wine. This is also the case with Sei Solo. Javier Zaccagnini, former founder and owner of the famous Bodegas Aalto, founded his personal project in 2007. He bought around 3 hectares of vineyards near his favorite village of La Horra in the Ribera del Duero region. His aim was to bring the finesse and elegance of the Ribera del Duero into his wines, without the wines losing their backbone and tannin structure. Javier Zaccagnini is a lover of classical music and particularly admires Johann Sebastian Bach. He derived the name for his wines from the six sonatas for violin and obbligato harpsichord (Sei Sounate à Cembalo certato è Violino Solo).Sei Solo is a top-class Spanish red wine that is dark purple-red in the glass. The nose reveals particularly aromatic fruit notes of plum and blackberry. The wine smells of Mediterranean herbs, cocoa and subtle roasted aromas. A hint of licorice completes the whole. On the palate, Sei Solo is powerful and complex, with an exceptional freshness that you would not expect from such a wine. The Bellevue Atticus is a typical Cape blend of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, vinified by the traditional Bellevue wine estate in Stellenbosch. Named after one of the estate's legendary Arabian stallions, this wine stands for power, elegance and long ageing potential.In the glass, the Bellevue Atticus is deep dark with intense aromas of dark plums, ripe berries and a fine vanilla note from the wood. On the palate, it is concentrated, juicy and structured, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish. It is powerful and robust when young, developing elegance and depth over time.The grapes come from selected plots with high-quality vine material. Pinotage is cultivated as a bush vine, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot on a wire frame. After being harvested by hand, the grapes were cold macerated and fermented for around four days. The red wine then matured for eleven months in French and American oak, around a third of which was in new barrels.A versatile accompaniment to lamb dishes, braised meat or a classic Sunday roast. Aged cheese or hearty mushroom dishes also go perfectly with it. Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18°C

Bellevue Cinsault 2022

The Bellevue Cinsault comes from one of South Africa's most traditional wine estates. Rooted in Stellenbosch, the Bellevue family winery is one of the pioneers of this versatile grape variety, which was once known as Hermitage. Today, Bellevue is reinterpreting Cinsault as a fresh, fruity red wine with moderate alcohol and a fine structure, ideal for the warmer months of the year.Bellevue Cinsault has a bright ruby red color in the glass and a lively, fragrant nose. Aromas of raspberry, strawberry, sour cherry and a hint of beet characterize the bouquet. On the palate, the red wine is medium-bodied, silky and fresh, with a subtle spiciness and supple tannins that blend harmoniously into the overall picture.The grapes come from old bush vines planted between 1994 and 1996. After gentle pressing, the must was fermented immediately. Fermentation lasted around four days, accompanied by daily pumping over for gentle extraction. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then matured on the fine lees. Ageing took place in French and American oak, which gives the wine structure and depth without masking the fruit.This Cinsault is an ideal accompaniment to beef carpaccio, grilled tuna, antipasti or summer vegetable dishes. Thanks to its freshness and fine structure, it can also be served slightly chilled - perfect for the terrace or a picnic.Best served at 14-16°C - slightly chilled, it reveals its fresh, summery elegance to optimum effect.

Bellevue Pinotage 2020

Bellevue Pinotage comes from one of South Africa's most traditional wine estates. The winery in Stellenbosch planted one of the very first Pinotage vineyards back in 1953 - making it one of the pioneers of this unique grape variety. Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault and is now a true flagship of South African viticulture. The vines grow on different soils, mostly as so-called bush vines, which were planted between 1959 and 1996.The Bellevue Pinotage is fruity and lively in the glass. Aromas of red plum, cherry and raspberry are in the foreground, complemented by a pleasant spiciness and fine roasted aromas from the wooden barrel. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, juicy and elegant, with silky tannins and a harmonious, long-lasting finish. The fresh acidity also makes it particularly versatile with food.The grapes are harvested by hand and briefly cold crushed before fermentation to preserve color and fruit. The red wine then ferments for around four days, with gentle pumping over to extract the tannins and structure in the best possible way. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is matured in American oak barrels made by French coopers - the result is a balanced style with a gentle woody character and plenty of fruit.This Pinotage goes particularly well with roast beef, braised dishes such as oxtail or - for a change of pace - grilled fish such as galjoen, a South African classic. It also cuts a fine figure with strongly seasoned vegetables or mushroom dishes. Best served at 16-18°C, slightly chilled or room temperature.
