The outstanding reputation of the cult winery Geheimer Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan from Deidesheim in the Palatinate is based primarily on its Riesling creations. However, the winegrowers also produce impressive white wines from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The bouquet alone is fascinating: Notes of green bell pepper, grass and pine needles at the beginning, harmonizing over time with the scent of gooseberries and exotic fruits such as passion fruit and grapefruit. Nuances of pepper and cassis round off the whole.

On the palate, the Bassermann-Jordan Sauvignon Blanc is dry, fresh and fruity. The Palatinate white wine is also characterized by a fine acidity, a slender body and great complexity. In the finish, aromas of citrus fruits and nuances of ice candy enrich the taste pleasure.

The grapes come from different, cooler sites in the Mittelhardt, the northern part of the Palatinate wine-growing region. They are predominantly east-facing. The slower ripening of the Sauvignon Blanc vines results in a great depth of aroma.

Geheimer Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan ist eines der traditionsreichsten Weingüter der Pfalz – seine Geschichte reicht zurück bis ins Jahr 1718. Ursprünglich von Peter Jordan gegründet und seitdem in kontinuierlichem Betrieb, hat es durch Generationen hinweg die Entwicklung des Qualitätsweinbaus in Deutschland entscheidend mitgeprägt.

Im historischen Zentrum Deidesheims gelegen, bewahrt der spätbarocke Winzerhof mit beeindruckenden Kellern aus dem Jahr 1783 architektonische wie oenologische Schätze – darunter seltene Flaschen bis zum „Kometenjahrgang“ 1811.

Mit rund 50 Hektar Rebfläche in erstklassigen Einzellagen wie Kirchenstück, Jesuitengarten, Hohenmorgen, Pechstein, Paradiesgarten und mehr, liegt der Schwerpunkt auf Riesling (rund 85%), ergänzt durch Pinot-Sorten und aromatische Weißweine sowie eine kleine Rotweinproduktion.

Als Mitglied im Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) seit 1910 und Gründungsmitglied, verbindet Bassermann-Jordan anspruchsvollen, naturnahen Weinbau mit innovativer Kellerarbeit. Biologischer Anbau ohne synthetische Mittel, spontane Vergärung auf natürlichen Hefen sowie terroirbetonte Ausrichtung reflektieren moderne Qualitätsphilosophie mit Wurzeln in jahrhundertealter Tradition.

Heute wird das Weingut von Jana Seeger geführt – in der Nachfolge der Unternehmergruppe Niederberger, die es 2002 übernahm, und trägt weiterhin das Erbe von Prestige, Nachhaltigkeit und Innovationskraft in die Zukunft.
