Bellevue Atticus

The Bellevue Atticus is a typical Cape blend of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, vinified by the traditional Bellevue wine estate in Stellenbosch. Named after one of the estate's legendary Arabian stallions, this wine stands for power, elegance and long ageing potential.

In the glass, the Bellevue Atticus is deep dark with intense aromas of dark plums, ripe berries and a fine vanilla note from the wood. On the palate, it is concentrated, juicy and structured, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish. It is powerful and robust when young, developing elegance and depth over time.

The grapes come from selected plots with high-quality vine material. Pinotage is cultivated as a bush vine, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot on a wire frame. After being harvested by hand, the grapes were cold macerated and fermented for around four days. The red wine then matured for eleven months in French and American oak, around a third of which was in new barrels.

A versatile accompaniment to lamb dishes, braised meat or a classic Sunday roast. Aged cheese or hearty mushroom dishes also go perfectly with it. Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18°C

Bellevue Pinotage
Bellevue Pinotage comes from one of South Africa's most traditional wine estates. The winery in Stellenbosch planted one of the very first Pinotage vineyards back in 1953 - making it one of the pioneers of this unique grape variety. Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault and is now a true flagship of South African viticulture. The vines grow on different soils, mostly as so-called bush vines, which were planted between 1959 and 1996.The Bellevue Pinotage is fruity and lively in the glass. Aromas of red plum, cherry and raspberry are in the foreground, complemented by a pleasant spiciness and fine roasted aromas from the wooden barrel. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, juicy and elegant, with silky tannins and a harmonious, long-lasting finish. The fresh acidity also makes it particularly versatile with food. The grapes are harvested by hand and briefly cold crushed before fermentation to preserve color and fruit. The red wine then ferments for around four days, with gentle pumping over to extract the tannins and structure in the best possible way. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is matured in American oak barrels made by French coopers - the result is a balanced style with a gentle woody character and plenty of fruit. This Pinotage goes particularly well with roast beef, braised dishes such as oxtail or - for a change of pace - grilled fish such as galjoen, a South African classic. It also cuts a fine figure with strongly seasoned vegetables or mushroom dishes. Best served at 16-18°C, slightly chilled or room temperature.

Raka Figurehead
The Raka Figurehead seduces with a multi-layered bouquet of dark fruits such as plum, mulberry and blackcurrant, complemented by earthy notes from the forest floor and a fresh hint of eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is juicy and full-bodied, supported by aromas of red and black fruits, elegant wood notes and a fine spiciness that lingers on the long finish. This complex cuvée is made from a careful selection of fine grape varieties from the renowned Klein River Ward wine-growing region in South Africa. The grapes were all harvested by hand to ensure the highest quality. In the wine cellar, the grapes were carefully sorted and fermented with pure yeasts. Maceration lasted five days, during which the must was pumped over the skins 3-5 times a day and the cap was punched down to maximize depth of colour and aromatics. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation took place, followed by a short resting phase. The red wine then matured for 12 to 14 months in 225-liter French oak barrels before being blended, bottled and labeled.Raka Figurehead is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes such as roast beef, lamb and game, as well as mature hard cheeses and mushroom dishes. For an optimal taste experience, we recommend a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C.

Paul Roos Die Filantroop
The grapes for Die Filantroop from Paul Roos come from vines from the Rust en Vrede estate, one of South Africa’s most renowned wineries. The wine is a product of the Paul Roos Farming project (sales of the wines sold under this label go to funding the education of the workers’ children), which is supported by the famous winemaker Augustus Dale, known as Gus, who trained in Burgundy, France, and worked there for many years. This wonderfully structured red wine consists of 69% Shiraz and equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinotage. Its extremely intense bouquet offers aromas of red fruit and light notes of tobacco. The supple but strong tannins are harmoniously integrated.
