Bellevue Atticus

The Bellevue Atticus is a typical Cape blend of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, vinified by the traditional Bellevue wine estate in Stellenbosch. Named after one of the estate's legendary Arabian stallions, this wine stands for power, elegance and long ageing potential.

In the glass, the Bellevue Atticus is deep dark with intense aromas of dark plums, ripe berries and a fine vanilla note from the wood. On the palate, it is concentrated, juicy and structured, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish. It is powerful and robust when young, developing elegance and depth over time.

The grapes come from selected plots with high-quality vine material. Pinotage is cultivated as a bush vine, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot on a wire frame. After being harvested by hand, the grapes were cold macerated and fermented for around four days. The red wine then matured for eleven months in French and American oak, around a third of which was in new barrels.

A versatile accompaniment to lamb dishes, braised meat or a classic Sunday roast. Aged cheese or hearty mushroom dishes also go perfectly with it. Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18°C

Bellevue Pinotage
Bellevue Pinotage comes from one of South Africa's most traditional wine estates. The winery in Stellenbosch planted one of the very first Pinotage vineyards back in 1953 - making it one of the pioneers of this unique grape variety. Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault and is now a true flagship of South African viticulture. The vines grow on different soils, mostly as so-called bush vines, which were planted between 1959 and 1996.The Bellevue Pinotage is fruity and lively in the glass. Aromas of red plum, cherry and raspberry are in the foreground, complemented by a pleasant spiciness and fine roasted aromas from the wooden barrel. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, juicy and elegant, with silky tannins and a harmonious, long-lasting finish. The fresh acidity also makes it particularly versatile with food. The grapes are harvested by hand and briefly cold crushed before fermentation to preserve color and fruit. The red wine then ferments for around four days, with gentle pumping over to extract the tannins and structure in the best possible way. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is matured in American oak barrels made by French coopers - the result is a balanced style with a gentle woody character and plenty of fruit. This Pinotage goes particularly well with roast beef, braised dishes such as oxtail or - for a change of pace - grilled fish such as galjoen, a South African classic. It also cuts a fine figure with strongly seasoned vegetables or mushroom dishes. Best served at 16-18°C, slightly chilled or room temperature.

Beyerskloof Synergy Cape Blend
The Beyerskloof Synergy is a Cape blend like no other. As one of the first of its kind in South Africa, it combines the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the fruitiness of Pinotage and the softness of Merlot. A small proportion of Shiraz gives the red wine its spice and minerality. The wine matured for 14 months in first (10%), second and third fill French oak barrels. The color of the Beyerskloof Synergy Cape Blend is dark red and slightly shiny ruby red at the edges. The bouquet is almost effervescently intense of black fruits. The mouthfeel is juicy, soft and full-bodied. It is reminiscent of sweet cedar wood aromas, cherry and lots of black fruit. The wonderfully integrated tannins beautifully support the balance and complexity of the Synergy Cape blend. The aftertaste is pleasantly soft and well-rounded.Try this Cape Blend with game dishes, oxtail or leg of lamb.

Raka Figurehead
The Raka Figurehead seduces with a multi-layered bouquet of dark fruits such as plum, mulberry and blackcurrant, complemented by earthy notes from the forest floor and a fresh hint of eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is juicy and full-bodied, supported by aromas of red and black fruits, elegant wood notes and a fine spiciness that lingers on the long finish. This complex cuvée is made from a careful selection of fine grape varieties from the renowned Klein River Ward wine-growing region in South Africa. The grapes were all harvested by hand to ensure the highest quality. In the wine cellar, the grapes were carefully sorted and fermented with pure yeasts. Maceration lasted five days, during which the must was pumped over the skins 3-5 times a day and the cap was punched down to maximize depth of colour and aromatics. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation took place, followed by a short resting phase. The red wine then matured for 12 to 14 months in 225-liter French oak barrels before being blended, bottled and labeled.Raka Figurehead is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes such as roast beef, lamb and game, as well as mature hard cheeses and mushroom dishes. For an optimal taste experience, we recommend a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C.

Raka Barrel Select Malbec
This Raka Malbec from South Africa's Klein River Valley delights with an expressive interplay of aromas: The nose reveals intense notes of plums, blackberries and cassis, underpinned by a subtle hint of smoke. The dark fruits are reflected on the palate - the juicy plums provide jammy tannins, which are perfectly balanced by well-integrated oak and an elegant structure. The finish is long, spicy and harmonious. The grapes for this red wine were harvested by hand in the Klein River Ward and carefully sorted directly in the vineyard. A second berry selection was carried out in the cellar before the must was fermented with pure yeasts. During the five-day mash fermentation, the juice was pumped over the skins several times a day and punched down by hand. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was separated from the yeast and transferred to a resting tank. This was followed by malolactic fermentation and a short resting phase before the wine matured in French oak barrels (225 liters, 25% of which were new) for 12 to 14 months. The Raka Malbec is an ideal accompaniment to grilled beef, spicy braised dishes or mature hard cheese. The recommended drinking temperature is 16-18 °C to allow the complex aromas to develop optimally.
