Auch im Jahrgang 2017 haben die Macherinnen und Macher von Freemark Abbey einen Cabernet Sauvignon komponiert, der von der internationalen Weinkritik gefeiert wird.Der Rotwein aus den USA duftet eindrucksvoll vielschichtig nach Brombeeren, Kirschen und Milchschokolade. Das Bouquet wird darüber hinaus bereichert durch Noten von Zedern und Kräutern der Provence sowie süßlichen Eichennoten.Lisa Perrotti-Brown vergibt in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 92 Punkte für den Freemark Abbey Cabernet. Ihre Worte: „Der Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley offenbart frische Brombeeren, Schwarze Johannisbeeren und schwarze Pflaumen mit einem Hauch von dunkler Schokolade, Menthol und fruchtbarer Erde.“Am Gaumen ist der dunkel-rubinrote Wein trocken und vollmundig, mit einem wunderbar angenehmen, weichen Mundgefühl. Intensive Aromen von Kirschen sind prägend. Der Blend aus überwiegend Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot und sehr kleinen Anteilen Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc besitzt eine großartige Textur, die Tannine sind meisterhaft eingebunden. James Suckling vergibt 93 Punkte und findet: „Aromen von Blaubeeren, Johannisbeeren und Blumen folgen einem mittleren bis vollen Körper, festen und seidigen Tanninen und einem köstlichen Abgang. Zeigt einige Haselnuss- und Walnuss-Untertöne. Sehr fein abgestimmt.“Mehr als zwei Jahre reifte dieser edle Wein aus den USA im Eichenholz. Freemark Abbey, etwas mehr als 100 Kilometer nördlich von San Francisco gelegen, setzte dabei zu einem kleinen Anteil neue Fässer ein.

Guado al Tasso Bolgheri DOC Superiore 2022

The Guado al Tasso is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wonderful wine comes from the Tenuta Guado al Tasso. It is located about 80 kilometres southwest of Florence, near the medieval village of Bolgheri. The grapes were aged separately in new oak barrels for 12 months. The best parts were assembled and matured for six further months in small barrels before the wine was bottled.The Merlot gives the Guado al Tasso, a subtle sweetness and density and intense aromas of dark fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon offers notes of dark fruits and licorice. Cabernet Franc finally gives harmony and balance, while Petit Verdot completes the bouquet with a hint of spice.Enjoy an elegant wine from Tuscany, for which the grapes were handpicked and processed with great meticulousness.

Holden Manz Visionaire 2020

The name ‘Holden Manz Visionaire’ stands for something special. It represents the attempt to create an expressive wine consisting of 6 different grape varieties - and the winery succeeded! The interaction of the single grape varieties was a real challenge for the winemaker as he had to take the most diverse aspects into consideration. The grapes were selected from various vineyards with different types of soil. The ageing was carried out in 225-litre French oak casks, of which 20% were new and 80% were second- and third-fill barrels. The wines were aged for 24 months before they were blended and bottled, resulting in a wine of extreme complexity that shows a perfect balance between residual sugar and acidity. On the nose, it pampers your senses with a variety of aromas such as notes of mulberries and currants as well as fine nuances of white pepper and violets. The Holden Manz Visionaire is elegant and smooth on the palate, with a medium body. The palate is predominantly characterised by notes of red and black fruit and an exceptional minerality, wonderfully rounded off by skilfully integrated, strong tannins. From the vine to the bottle, the fruit of several outstanding Napa vineyards unfolds with careful processing and uncompromising winemaking craftsmanship.The cuvée is based on around 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by proportions of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Merlot. Kaiken uses the best growing areas of Argentina - Maipú, Cruz de Piedra, Ugarteche, Agrelo and Valle de Uco. The blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec and 8% Petit Verdot comes from vineyards in Agrelo and Valle de Uco. It has a very dark reddish-purple colour. On the nose it offers the classic Cabernet aromas of black currants and juicy cherries, elegantly highlighted with the subtle scent of violets of Malbec and perfectly integrated oak notes.
