Like "Kaikenes" - Patagonian wild geese crossing the Andes between Chile and Argentina - the famous winery Viña Montes has gone the way from Chile to Argentina to lead the project “Kaiken” to success. Kaiken uses the best growing areas of Argentina - Maipú, Cruz de Piedra, Ugarteche, Agrelo and Valle de Uco.

The blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec and 8% Petit Verdot comes from vineyards in Agrelo and Valle de Uco. It has a very dark reddish-purple colour. On the nose it offers the classic Cabernet aromas of black currants and juicy cherries, elegantly highlighted with the subtle scent of violets of Malbec and perfectly integrated oak notes. On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon provides the juicy dark berry flavors, Malbec complements with silky mature tannins and Petit Verdot completes the blend with clear structure and depth, powerful with a rich, fresh fruit. The finale has a nice length.

Enjoy the blend, matured to 50% for ten months in French oak barrels, with hearty lamb or roast beef in red wine sauce, grilled beef steaks, spicy pasta dishes and spicy mature cheeses.

Since its founding in 1995, Bodegas Salentein has spared no effort to become one of the premium wineries in Argentina. The winery succeeded in recruiting star oenologist José Galante, and invested millions in the construction of the wine cellar that was built underground in the shape of a cross and equipped with the latest technology. The Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most outstanding results of these efforts. It is a pure varietal Cabernet Sauvignon that matured for 12 months in French oak casks before it was bottled. It is a striking, intensely dark red – almost black - in the glass, offering the classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of currants, pepper and vanilla. It is fleshy on the palate, showing a very elegant structure and fine, soft, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and voluminous. Those who prefer typical Cabernet Sauvignon wines will be delighted by this Salentein Barrel Selection. It is best served at a temperature of 16-18 °C (60.8-64.4 °F) and goes beautifully with lamb, game and mildly seasoned red meat. It is also an ideal accompaniment to hard cheeses. We recommend decanting the wine before drinking it so that the Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon can develop its aromas to the fullest.
