The Meerlust Red is an elegant red wine cuvée from Stellenbosch that perfectly reflects the terroir and expertise of the famous Meerlust wine estate. As the "second wine" of the legendary Meerlust Rubicon, this blend offers a more accessible yet complex alternative with intense fruit, fine spice and a smooth tannin structure.The grapes for the Meerlust Red come from the same first-class vineyards as the Rubicon. The cuvée usually consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, although Malbec or Petit Verdot may also be added depending on the vintage. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels to give it additional depth and elegance.In the glass, the Meerlust Red is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by ripe dark berries, black cherries and cassis, complemented by subtle notes of cedar wood, spices and dark chocolate. A smoky aroma rises to the nose. The wine is elegant and has a very well defined character. The 5% of Petit Verdot is adding an extra element of complexity. There is an pleasant and harmonious marriage of fruit and the French oak. The structure of this wine will keep it for at least 20 years. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced, full-bodied and superbly voluptuous on the mid-palate with a rewarding, lingering after taste of mature grapes and acidity that reflects its superb structure.MONTES ALPHA "M" can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years (it will continue to improve in the bottle for at least 20 years).

A fantastic wine that blends both elegance and powerPurple Angel showcases the spicy touches typical of Carmenère, with ripe, gentle and soft tannins, it’s a full bodied, concentrated wine that combines red berries and dark chocolate on the mouth with alluring cigar box, blackberries and plums aromas on the noseThe wine is blended with a touch of Petit Verdot to enhance its structure, color and cellaring potential. A mouth filling wine with a very long finish, definitely a unique Carmenère!Denomination of Origin: Purple Angel is a blend of 92% Carmenère and 8% Petit Verdot from the Colchagua Valley. Winemaking: Grapes are carefully hand picked. The clusters go through a grape by grape selection made by hand with a team of 14 people, in which only good fruit is allowed into the tank. During the 18 months of barrel aging in new French oak barrels, the wine is racked 3 times to get rid of lees, and allow some oxygen to interfere in the evolution and maturation of this wine.When the final blend is made, if the wine is totally clear, and has no microbiological pressure, there is no need for filtration or fining….so the wine goes unfiltered to the bottling process.Decant for at least an hour for better enjoyment, allowing the wine to open up.

Morgenster Lourens River Valley 2020

In line with tradition, Morgenster also produces a second Bordeaux-style wine in South Africa. The Morgenster Lourens River Valley is a blend consisting of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grape varieties, produced with the advisory assistance of Pierre Lurton from Chateau Cheval Blanc in Bordeaux. The philosophy aims at creating an accessible wine that particularly reflects the fruit aromas so typical of the terroir, and simultaneously ensuring longevity. The wine is a bright, opaque ruby-red in the glass. On the nose, it offers lovely cherry aromas, complemented by notes of strawberry tarts and cassis. After the Morgenster Lourens River Valley has breathed for a while, it shows aromas of liquorice, vanilla and spices, accompanied by fruity nuances of plums, mulberries and raspberries. The wine is silky and smooth on the palate, offering a delicious fruity sweetness. The elegant tannins develop a lovely balance between ripe berry aromas and a great freshness. Henry Kotze, cellar master at Morgenster, speaks of a worthwhile wine that gains in complexity after it is decanted.The Morgenster Lourens River Valley goes beautifully with roast duck, poultry and ostrich.
