The Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley embodies the pursuit of quality and terroir expression with which the traditional Joseph Phelps winery was founded by Joe Phelps over 30 years ago. From the vine to the bottle, the fruit of several outstanding Napa vineyards unfolds with careful processing and uncompromising winemaking craftsmanship.

The cuvée is based on around 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by proportions of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Merlot. The nose reveals intense aromas of black cherry, cassis and pomegranate, accompanied by cedar wood spices and a fine coconut note from the barrel ageing. On the palate, the wine develops juicy stewed fruit and blackberry flavors, embedded in supple tannins and an elegant, lingering finish.

Ageing in French oak (partly American) gives the wine structure and depth without losing its freshness and origin. This combination makes the Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon a charismatic companion for meat dishes such as dry-aged steak or lamb fillet and at the same time a wine with very good ageing potential.

Most of the grapes for the FAY Cabernet Sauvignon come from the middle and lower plots of the Fay vineyard, where they develop the characteristic red fruit aromas particularly beautifully and intensively. Only a small portion of just under 10% comes from the rows of vines planted to the east, which give the blend a little more power and fullness. All the grapes are vinified separately by parcel, only now are they blended into the FAY blend and left to mature for 18 months in French oak barrels (80% new, 20% single-oak) to develop the unique balance of juicy fruit, power and elegance that characterizes the FAY Cabernet Sauvignon so unmistakably.The Stag's Leap FAY Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby to plum red color.
