„Schon zugänglich, aber das Beste kommt erst noch.” So etwas liest man gern, auch beim Babylonstoren Cabernet Sauvignon. Denn der südafrikanische Rotwein ist ein kleines Fest für die Sinne, das schon jetzt jede edle Tafel bereichert. Aber, wie Christine Rudman in John Platter’s Wine Guide schreibt, das Beste liegt noch vor uns. 4 von 5 Sternen verleiht Rudman dem im Eichenholz ausgebauten Cabernet.Das Bouquet des pflaumenroten Weins ist einnehmend komplex. Noten von dunklen Beeren (Johannisbeeren) im wunderbaren Zusammenspiel mit Noten von Wildkräutern, Graphit und Zedernholz. Rudman schreibt dem Duftstrauß Noten von „Mokka-Schokolade & Cassis-Düfte“ zu.Am Gaumen ist der Babylonstoren Cabernet Sauvignon trocken, kraftvoll und meisterhaft ausbalanciert. „2020 ist opulent, seine Saftigkeit am Gaumen passt zu den kompakten Tanninen aus 18 Monaten Eichenholz, 40 % neu“, heißt es im Platter. Das Finale klingt noch eindrucksvoll lange nach. 18 Monate reifte der Rotwein von Babylonstoren - gelegen zwischen Paarl und Stellenbosch, etwa 50 Kilometer östlich von Kapstadt - in 300 Liter-Fässern aus französischer Eiche. 40% neue Fässer sowie 60% Fässer zweiter und dritter Füllung kamen zum Einsatz.

This masterful cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec matures in French oak barrels, which gives it additional complexity and depth.On the palate, this wine develops a full-bodied and velvety texture, supported by strong, well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity. Baron de Brane Margaux 2020

Baron de Brane is the second wine of the award-winning Cru Classé Château Brane Cantenac from Margaux. Wine connoisseurs will realize that this red wine must be something very special. Far from being second rate, this wine is an outstanding product of the Margaux appellation.The blend consists of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carmenere, aged for 12 months in wooden barrels with 30% new barrels. Fruit, elegance and Margaux refinement characterize the Baron der Brane. A price-performance miracle that impresses with dark berries and a typical Cabernet Sauvignon nose. This is followed by liquorice, blackberries, roasted notes and some tobacco on the palate. The finish is long and harmonious, the tannins are silky and well integrated. This red wine is an excellent accompaniment to BBQ game dishes, red meat and blue cheese.We think: A brilliant achievement from this Margaux estate, which is currently flying high. Be sure to pick it up, as the wine will continue to improve in the cellar over the next few years. Wonderfully ready to drink now, but decant for an hour first!

Bellevue Atticus 2024

The Bellevue Atticus is a typical Cape blend of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, vinified by the traditional Bellevue wine estate in Stellenbosch. Named after one of the estate's legendary Arabian stallions, this wine stands for power, elegance and long ageing potential.In the glass, the Bellevue Atticus is deep dark with intense aromas of dark plums, ripe berries and a fine vanilla note from the wood. On the palate, it is concentrated, juicy and structured, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish. It is powerful and robust when young, developing elegance and depth over time.The grapes come from selected plots with high-quality vine material. Pinotage is cultivated as a bush vine, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot on a wire frame. After being harvested by hand, the grapes were cold macerated and fermented for around four days. The red wine then matured for eleven months in French and American oak, around a third of which was in new barrels.A versatile accompaniment to lamb dishes, braised meat or a classic Sunday roast. Aged cheese or hearty mushroom dishes also go perfectly with it. Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18°C

The Benguela Cove Vinography Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Walker Bay region in South Africa, which is known for its temperate, cool climate. The vineyards lie on the shores of a lagoon that stretches out to the cold Atlantic Ocean. The foliage is tended with the utmost care so that the grapes can enjoy the cool afternoon sun.This is a confident Cabernet Sauvignon with the typical aromas of blackcurrant, dried herbs, fynbos, salty licorice and a hint of leather. A seamless balance between fruit and acidity, underpinned by polished tannins. Ripe red fruits on the nose, which continue on the palate.
