The Montes Alpha Syrah from the Vina Montes winery comes from Chile, from the Colchagua Valley region to be precise. This wine is particularly balanced and smooth.

The dry red wine presents itself in an elegant red color with black-purple reflections. On the nose, the Syrah smells of black cherries, ripe plums and red fruits such as strawberries. Slightly smoky, sweet tobacco notes suggest elegance. On the palate, the Chilean red wine is very velvety, peppered with fine spicy notes. Due to its ageing in French oak barrels, notes of toast and crème brûlée are also present. The Montes Alpha Syrah consists largely of the Syrah grape variety and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier.

Enjoy this wine with red meat, spaghetti bolognese or duck in a delicious sauce at a recommended drinking temperature of 17-19 °C.

Viña Montes

Aurelio Montes und Douglas Murray gründeten Viña Montes 1987 („Discover Wine“). Ein Jahr später kamen Alfredo Vidaurre und Pedro Grand hinzu. Alle verschrieben sich einem Traum: chilenische Weine auf eine höhere Qualitätsstufe zu heben. Der Erfolg stellte sich schnell ein: der erste Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon erntete 1987 schon große Anerkennung und etablierte sich als Spitzenwein genauso schnell wie Alphas Chardonnay, Merlot und Shiraz. Von Beginn an war Montes Alpha ein Synonym für höchste Qualität aus Chile. Das Weingut legt großen Wert darauf, eine Erfolgsgeschichte zu schreiben, die zu 100 Prozent chilenisch ist.

Viña Montes leistete Pionierarbeit in Apalta, einer für den Weinbau außergewöhnlich geeigneten Region im Colchagua-Tal. Die Kreationen, die aus diesen Lagen stammen, beeindruckten die Kritiker weltweit: der erste Ultra-Premium-Wein oder Super-Chilene Montes Alpha ‘M’ im klassischen Bordeaux-Stil wurde 1996 gefeiert. Beim Montes Folly – einem 100-prozentigen Shiraz – war das im Jahr 2000 nicht anders. Und auch der Purple Angel (92% Carménère), 2005 eingeführt, ist von Beginn an ein großer Erfolg.

La Finca de Apalta ist das Herzstück von Viña Montes. Auf 135 Hektar wachsen die Apalta -Trauben Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Shiraz, Malbec, Petit Verdot und Cabernet Franc. In jüngerer Zeit kamen Mourvèdre, Grenache und Carignan hinzu.

Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon

The Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley has a dark, dense ruby red color with black reflections. Aromas of ripe blackberries and prunes on the nose. There are also spicy notes of cloves, sweet tobacco and light smoky aromas reminiscent of a freshly filled red wine barrel.The palate reveals a strong, juicy structure and the fruit of the Cabernet, combined with fine tannins, is complemented by beautifully integrated oak aromas. After destemming, the Cabernet Sauvignon fermented for eight days with the addition of pure yeasts. The mash was flooded twice a day and after a gentle pressing, the wine matured for 16 months in French and American oak (32% new).Drink the Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon with grilled dishes, fillet of beef and pasta.

Montes Alpha M

MONTES ALPHA"M" is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A powerful wine with very good level of soft and rounded tannins. Intense dark red colour. The wine is elegant and has a very well defined character. The 5% of Petit Verdot is adding an extra element of complexity. There is an pleasant and harmonious marriage of fruit and the French oak. The structure of this wine will keep it for at least 20 years. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced, full-bodied and superbly voluptuous on the mid-palate with a rewarding, lingering after taste of mature grapes and acidity that reflects its superb structure.MONTES ALPHA "M" can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years (it will continue to improve in the bottle for at least 20 years).
