Situated between Table Mountain (around 15 kilometers north of the winery) and False Bay (10 kilometers south), the microclimate is ideal for high-quality viticulture. The De Toren Délicate is an elegant, fresh red wine cuvée from the South African wine estate De Toren, which is known for precise, balanced wines with a clear style. The nose reveals fine aromas of roses and ripe strawberries. On the palate, the wine presents itself with a medium body, juicy fruit and very gentle, well-integrated tannins. The finish is balanced and pleasantly soft.The cuvée of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot is carefully matured to preserve freshness and balance. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon mature for around twelve months in multiple French oak barrels, while the Malbec is matured in stainless steel tanks to preserve the primary fruit.Thanks to its low tannin content, De Toren Délicate is intended for immediate consumption. It is ideal as an aperitif and should be served slightly chilled at around 11 to 13 °C. The Edition Z from the South African wine estate De Toren is a cuvée or a blend, as they say in South Africa, of the Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grape varieties. These grape varieties and types of cuvée can be found in Bordeaux, particularly on the right bank of the Gironde. De Toren Fusion V 2020

If you want to taste one of the absolute top wines from South Africa, De Toren Fusion V is a must. The V stands for the 5 Bordeaux grape varieties used in the wine. The quality is on a par with the great wines from Bordeaux.After hand-picking and selecting the grapes, a long, gentle fermentation followed. Maturation took place over a period of 12 months in 50% new and 50% second-fill barrels. Barrels of 225 liters were used. (90% French and 10% American) In the glass a clear violet with a slight sparkle. The nose is characterized by blueberry, cedar, black cherry, dark chocolate and a hint of fennel. On the palate, De Toren Fusion V offers a silky fullness with a hint of sweet fruit. The grapes for Delheim Grand Reserve 2020 were harvested by hand in small batches, with only the best grapes being processed. The juice was fermented in a combination of open-top fermenters and vertical stainless steel tanks. After extraction, the wine matured for 18 months in 300-liter French oak barrels.The complex bouquet of this cuvée of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12.5% Cabernet Franc, 12.5% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot is dominated by blackberries and blackcurrants, followed by notes of tobacco and tomato leaf, fresh pencil shavings and cassis. With the Iconoclast Cabernet Franc, the Delheim winery in Simonsberg presents an expressive red wine with a clear origin and unmistakable character. The vines thrive in the Vaaldraai vineyard on weathered granite soils of the Oakleaf profile - a unique combination of soil, slope and altitude of 220 to 260 meters above sea level. These conditions give the wine its depth, structure and elegant spiciness.The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and processed gently. After destemming and light crushing, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by a two-week maceration period to intensify structure and complexity. Malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks before the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels. This careful barrel selection results in a balanced, multi-layered wine with elegance and depth.In the glass, the Delheim Iconoclast Cabernet Franc presents itself with an intense, deep dark color. The nose reveals a complex interplay of aromas of dark berries, cassis, herbs and fine spices, underpinned by subtle toasted and woody notes.
