The Edition Z from the South African wine estate De Toren is a cuvée or a blend, as they say in South Africa, of the Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grape varieties. These grape varieties and types of cuvée can be found in Bordeaux, particularly on the right bank of the Gironde. The style of these wines is also reflected in De Toren Z.

On the nose, there are notes of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, vanilla, smoke, tobacco and coffee. On the palate, De Toren Edition Z is fruity and fresh with delicate acidity and strong but round tannins. The special complexity and power make this red wine unique. The complexity and spiciness in combination with velvety and elegance give this wine from the Stellenbosch region an exceptionally good balance.

De Toren Edition Z goes excellently with lightly spiced dishes and complements fish just as well as duck or lamb.

Im Jahre 1991 erwarben Emil und Sonette den Dulk, die Eigentümer von de Toren, die ersten 7 Hektar Reben und bereits zwei Jahre später weitere 17 Hektar, die heute die Grundlage für die hervorragenden Weine bilden. Die Weinberge liegen auf dem Polkadraai Hills, von denen man ganz  Stellenbosch überblicken kann. Die Reben stehen auf einer Höhe zwischen 100 und 200 Metern und werden im Süden von der False Bay und im Westen vom Tafelberg eingeschlossen. Das begünstigt eine kühlende südöstliche Windströmung, die ein perfektes Mikroklima für die Trauben schafft.

De Toren produziert lediglich zwei Weine aus den fünf Bordeaux Rebsorten Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon und Petit Verdot. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Erreichen der größtmöglichen Komplexität jeder einzelnen Rebsorte und jedes einzelnen Weinbergs.

De Toren hat sich ganz der Stilistik der Bordeauxweine verschrieben, indem man Weine entwickelt die das Bordeaux Konzept mit dem unverwechselbaren des Südafrikanischen verbindet. Dieses Streben wurde unter anderem 2011 mit der Auszeichnung „New World Winery of the Year“ des Wine Enthusiast Magazine belohnt.

The Knipser Cuvée X from the Knipser winery impresses with a multi-faceted bouquet with spicy notes of cassis, tobacco, coffee and cedar. On the palate, the dry composition of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc is dense and intense, with ripe, perfectly integrated tannins and impressive length.The grapes grow in the best vineyards of the Knipser winery in the Palatinate, which are characterized by limestone. Through short pruning and the so-called "green harvest" - the targeted thinning out of unripe grapes in summer - the yield is reduced in order to produce a particularly concentrated and elegant red wine. Cuvée Lara QbA dry is a perfect marriage of fullness and elegance. The fruity note of this bouquet is characterized by blackcurrant, paired with blackberries and plums. This wine unfolds its opulence with a warm mocha note and a lovely vanilla aroma. The long ageing period in wooden barrels ensures that this wine is multi-faceted and harmonious. This prestige red wine cuvée is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The selection of the best grapes and the late harvest give this wine its special warmth and balance. It comes from the Walsheim wine-growing region from sunny, sheltered vineyards. The appearance of the wine is ruby red with violet hues.The wine tastes best at a drinking temperature of 16 °C and should be decanted about two hours before drinking. The Loam Cabernet Merlot Riserva consists of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. This is a cuvée that could have been produced in the Bordeaux region. The method of ageing is also similar to that used in Bordeaux. After a meticulous harvest by hand, the grapes are fermented in large wooden casks at a temperature of 82.4 °F, leading to an intense aroma and colour, amongst other things. The ageing was carried out in small barriques for a period of 12 months. Subsequently, the wine matured for six months in large wooden casks. It was put on the market only after ageing another six months in the bottle. The special quality of the grapes, the interaction of the different grape varieties and the careful production guarantee the longevity of the Loam. This wine will be extraordinary even in ten years. The Cantina Tramin Loam Cabernet-Merlot Riserva is fruity and well-balanced. The intense but fine tannins are wonderfully integrated, giving the wine power, balance and an enormous depth.The Loam is a ruby red in colour. On the nose, it offers fruity, slightly astringent aromas of wild cherries, chocolate and various berries, complemented by notes of wild herbs. Each sip caresses the palate with aromas of red berries, dried fruit and subtle hints of cedar. The tannins underpin the finish with a blend of mineral and salty nuances.Enjoy the Cantina Tramin Loam with roasts with dark sauces, game or hearty grilled meat. It also goes beautifully with various blue cheeses.

The quality is on a par with the great wines from Bordeaux.After hand-picking and selecting the grapes, a long, gentle fermentation followed. Maturation took place over a period of 12 months in 50% new and 50% second-fill barrels. Barrels of 225 liters were used. Rubicon is the flagship wine from Meerlust Wine Estate. This intense and elegant wine shows everything: complexity and depth that are so characteristic of Meerlust wines. The dry red wine from South Africa is full and rich in flavor with creamy, concentrated fruit. Juicy and lively tannins and earthy tones.A super dark ruby red in the glass, almost opaque. A light orange hue shimmers at the edge of the glass. A smoky aroma rises to the nose.
