This blend, mainly consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller percentages of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec, has a wonderfully multi-faceted bouquet uniting nuances of liquorice and blackberries with intense notes of cassis and a lovely spice. This showcase blend from South Africa is impressively concentrated on the palate, underpinned by skilfully integrated tannins. The Delaire Graff Botmaskop matured for 16 months in French oak casks, of which 50% were new barrels.

Rubicon is the flagship wine from Meerlust Wine Estate. This intense and elegant wine shows everything: complexity and depth that are so characteristic of Meerlust wines. The dry red wine from South Africa is full and rich in flavor with creamy, concentrated fruit. Juicy and lively tannins and earthy tones.A super dark ruby red in the glass, almost opaque. A light orange hue shimmers at the edge of the glass. A smoky aroma rises to the nose. Then, with a little air, the bouquet develops into dark berries, yet not overloaded, but fresh and clear.The Rubicon is an intense experience on the palate. The fruity notes from the nose are echoed on the palate and are reminiscent of black cherry and blackcurrant. This is followed by aromas reminiscent of a cigar box. Enormous concentration and complexity on the palate. With juicy tannins. Further aromas can be perceived, reminiscent of milk chocolate, cocoa, then plums and blueberries, but also sweetish roasted aromas. There is also a hint of tobacco. The Springfield "The Work of Time" is a powerful, Bordeaux-inspired red wine cuvée from Robertson in South Africa.A spicy and sensual aroma on the nose, peppery and open. The broad and complex bouquet of Springfield The Work of Time is accompanied by vanilla, berries, cherries and a hint of chocolate. You can taste a smooth elegance on the palate and a slightly mature taste. There is also a light spiciness, vanilla aroma and cherry.The overall taste is smooth and well-rounded. The grapes were fermented entirely with indigenous yeasts (according to ancient custom) and left on their skins for 5 weeks. This was followed by 2 years of slow barrel ageing and a further 4 years of bottle ageing.
