La Bri Double Door Red 2021

With the Double Door range, La Bri creates space for creative wines beyond rigid conventions - as is the case with this powerful, multi-layered red wine cuvée. The Double Door Red Blend combines 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc to create a harmonious whole with structure, finesse and elegance.Only grapes from the estate were used for this wine. After fermentation, the individual batches matured for 24 months in used French barriques before being blended into a precisely balanced cuvée. The longer maturation period ensures a harmonious balance between fruit, spice and velvety tannins.The La Bri Double Door Red Blend impresses with a deep dark color and aromas of blackcurrants, plums, spices and fine roasted aromas. Powerful but round on the palate with ripe tannins and an elegant, long finish. Only 853 bottles of this expressive Cabernet Sauvignon were filled - vinified exclusively in outstanding vintages and from the estate's best vineyard: Block 1, planted in 1999. A real collector's item for lovers of strong, storable red wines from South Africa.The selected grapes were processed gently - after a one-week cold maceration in stainless steel tanks, malolactic fermentation was carried out in barrels. The wine matured for 24 months in French oak, giving it structure, depth and elegant spice.The wine impresses with its velvety texture and finely nuanced aromas: blackcurrant (cassis), cedar wood, pencil shavings and dark spice characterize the bouquet. The La Bri Merlot impressively demonstrates the sophistication and depth of this grape variety: an expressive red wine that immediately impresses with its aroma of smoked bacon, violets and ripe mulberries. La Bri Syrah is an aromatic red wine from Franschhoek full of character, reminiscent of the great tradition of the Côte Rôtie thanks to the combination of Syrah and a hint of Viognier. A beguiling bouquet of lavender, thyme, violets and oriental spices unfolds in the glass - like a walk through a Mediterranean herb garden.The two grape varieties were harvested together in the last week of February and co-fermented to achieve a particularly intense interplay of aromas. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrels, after which the wine matured for 24 months in selected French oak barrels of 225 and 300 liters. This maturation gives the wine structure, depth and silky tannins.On the palate, La Bri Syrah is multi-layered, with dark fruit, floral notes and fine herbal spice. The tannins are polished and harmoniously integrated, while the acidity provides freshness and elegance. A wine with substance, but without heaviness - refined, balanced and extremely drinkable.The botanical illustration "Herbae" on the label underlines the characteristic herbal scent of this wine: fennel, thyme, rosemary, oregano - an aromatic signature that makes it unique.An ideal accompaniment to herb-crusted lamb chops, game ragout, grilled vegetables or oriental-spiced eggplant. The wine comes from a single vineyard with particularly low yields and impresses with its aromatic depth, intense spice and remarkable structure. Lanzerac Merlot 2023

The grapes for Lanzerac Merlot come from vineyards located in the Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch. These vineyards are divided into four different parcels of land with vines that are between 9 and 17 years old, covering an area of 20.31 acres. This terroir consists of deep red, decomposed granite soils and is located between 125 and 400 metres above sea level. After arrival in the cellar, the grapes were selected by hand and destemmed. Before they were gently pressed, the loose grapes underwent a second selection by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with pumping over twice a day, allowing an optimal extraction of colour and aromas.The Merlot matured for 12 months in second- and third-fill French oak casks. The optimal point of the ripening process was reached by regular racking. This appetizing Lanzerac Merlot has a lot to offer and leaves nothing to be desired.On the nose, it offers concentrated aromas of black fruit, along with sweet notes of vanilla and spicy aromas. The tannins give the wine more complexity, gently underpinning aromas of plums, black cherries, cooked strawberry purée and dark chocolate, finely rounded off by a long, integrated finish.The Lanzerac Merlot goes beautifully with veal chops and portabello mushrooms, gnocchi in a red pepper sauce with crispy pancetta or with a creamy gruyere and parmesan cheese risotto.

Lanzerac Pinotage 2023

The grapes for the Lanzerac Pinotage come from vineyards located at an altitude of between 400 and 420 meters above sea level. The prevailing wind here helps to cool the grapes in hot summers. The soils consist mainly of decomposed granite, which favors the deep growth of the vines and the soil retains water better.Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over. First, second and third-fill oak barrels were used to mature the Lanzerac Pinotage. Maturation took place over a period of 15 months. At this point, the optimal integration between wood and fruit was complete. The result is an excellent color and a scent of ripe berries and plums. On the palate, the red wine is velvety dense, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced.
