With the Double Door Petit Verdot, the boutique winery La Bri presents a powerful yet finely balanced red wine from Franschhoek in South Africa. The strictly limited cuvée comes from a particularly characterful vineyard on the estate and is part of the "Double Door" series, which leaves room for creative, terroir-driven wines.

Both the estate's own grapes and selected grapes from neighboring vineyards are used for this single-varietal Petit Verdot. The wine is vinified traditionally and matured for 24 months in French oak barrels. The ageing process ensures depth, structure and elegance - without masking the fruit.

In the glass, the wine is deep dark with violet reflections. The nose combines aromas of black fruits, tar, wild flowers and spicy notes. It is powerful on the palate, with a full body, velvety texture and a rich, long-lasting finish. A wine with presence, finesse and ageing potential.

Ideal with braised lamb, beef with a strong jus, game dishes or mature hard cheese. For vegetarians: a lentil, red wine and shallot pan with rosemary is an equally exciting partner.

Das Boutique-Weingut La Bri liegt eingebettet in das historische Franschhoek-Tal – eine der ältesten und charmantesten Weinregionen Südafrikas. Gegründet im 17. Jahrhundert, verbindet La Bri heute reiche Tradition mit modernem Weinhandwerk. Der Name „La Bri“ stammt vom französischen Wort „l’abri“, was „Zuflucht“ bedeutet – eine Anspielung auf die hugenottische Geschichte der Region.

La Bri steht für charaktervolle, handgefertigte Weine mit unverwechselbarem Ausdruck des Terroirs. Die Reben gedeihen auf sonnenverwöhnten Hanglagen mit fruchtbaren, gut drainierten Böden – ideale Bedingungen für Rebsorten wie Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon sowie Chenin Blanc und Chardonnay. La Bri Double Door Chardonnay Viognier is a white wine with a style all of its own, created from a combination of grapes from the estate and carefully selected fruit from neighboring farms. This creative blend gives the wines a special individuality and depth of character.The nose and palate are dominated by intense aromas of ripe peaches and juicy citrus fruits. The fruity sweetness is perfectly balanced by a striking, dry acidity, so that the wine remains bone-dry despite its opulent fruitiness.The Chardonnay grapes were fermented in 300-liter French oak barrels, which gives the wine a subtle woody note and a velvety texture. With the Crystal Spark, La Bri presents an expressive Cap Classique from the creative Double Door range. This sparkling wine is produced using the traditional method and matures for an exceptionally long time on the lees, which gives it its elegant perlage, aromatic depth and fine texture.The grapes come from older vineyards on the La Bri estate in Franschhoek and were carefully harvested by hand. After whole cluster pressing, the base wine was matured for several months in used French oak barrels before being bottled for a second fermentation. The subsequent ageing on the lees gives the Crystal Spark its complexity, creamy structure and a lively, fresh finish.The Crystel Spark is a versatile food companion - ideal as an aperitif or with oysters, sushi, fine antipasti or creamy goat's cheese. With the Double Door range, La Bri creates space for creative wines beyond rigid conventions - as is the case with this powerful, multi-layered red wine cuvée. The Double Door Red Blend combines 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc to create a harmonious whole with structure, finesse and elegance.Only grapes from the estate were used for this wine. After fermentation, the individual batches matured for 24 months in used French barriques before being blended into a precisely balanced cuvée. The longer maturation period ensures a harmonious balance between fruit, spice and velvety tannins.The La Bri Double Door Red Blend impresses with a deep dark color and aromas of blackcurrants, plums, spices and fine roasted aromas. Powerful but round on the palate with ripe tannins and an elegant, long finish. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrels, after which the wine matured for 24 months in selected French oak barrels of 225 and 300 liters. The name Holden Manz Visionaire already hides something special. It is an attempt to create an expressive wine from 6 different grape varieties. And it has succeeded! The interplay was a real challenge for the winemaker, as a wide variety of components had to be taken into account. The grapes were selected from different plots with different soil types. Ageing took place in 20% new 225-liter French oak barrels and 80% in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels. After 24 months of ageing, the wines were blended and bottled.The result is a wine of incredible complexity, with a perfect balance between residual sugar and acidity. The nose is spoiled by a multitude of aromas, such as mulberry, redcurrant, delicate notes of white pepper and violets.
