The vineyards on which the South African wine estate Constantia Uitsig now grows wine have been cultivated since the 16th century. Situated between Table Mountain (around 15 kilometers north of the winery) and False Bay (10 kilometers south), the microclimate is ideal for high-quality viticulture. The Constantia Uitsig Red is a wonderful example of this.This South African red wine combines fruity and spicy notes in its impressive bouquet. Connoisseurs can expect the scent of plums and blackcurrants, which harmonize perfectly with notes of herbs, graphite and cigar box.These notes also characterize the aromas on the palate. The Creation Art of Pinot Noir is a red wine from South Africa that is one of the flagships of the art of winemaking in the Cape. This Pinot Noir has a fascinating, multi-faceted aroma of rose petals, dark cherries, allspice, pepper and aniseed.The density of aromas on the palate is also impressive. Lush notes of cherries and plums mingle with earthy aromas of mushrooms and spices. This composition of 75 percent Syrah (Shiraz) and 25 percent Grenache has a seductive aroma of ripe black olives, tapenade (olive paste from southern French cuisine, including olives, anchovies and capers), ripe plums and umami (roughly: savory, spicy).On the palate, this Rhône-style red wine is full and aromatically deep. The tannins are supple, with a surprisingly fresh acidity. The typical Syrah pepper is noticeable on the finish. the makers of Creation Wines matured the red wine in oak for 14 months. They used a quarter new barrels for this.The Creation Estate Syrah Grenache from the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in the Walker Bay region will continue to be a delight until 2030. De Grendel Amandelboord Pinotage 2022

De Grendel Amandelboord Pinotage is a characterful yet elegant red wine from the renowned Durbanville region near Cape Town, where De Grendel's vineyards benefit from the cool maritime influence of Table Bay. This wine was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the De Grendel winery and is a tribute to Sir De Villiers Graaff's grandfather, the 2nd Baronet, whose favorite grape variety was Pinotage - especially from the cool hillside vineyards of Durbanville.The name Amandelboord ("almond orchard") recalls the gentle rides that the young De Villiers once took with his grandfather through the estate's almond groves. Back then, the scent of almond blossom mingled with the fresh sea breeze from Table Bay. Today, the Pinotage vines grow exactly where the almond trees once stood - an emotional and terroir-related connection between past and present.The grapes are harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning to preserve freshness and aromas. After destemming, open fermentation takes place, accompanied by pneumatic punch-downs four times a day to gently extract color, structure and aromas. The wine is then basket-pressed and undergoes malolactic fermentation in the tank. Once completed, the Amandelboord Pinotage matures for 12 months in 225-liter barriques made from a combination of French and American oak, using 12% new wood - enough to add depth and spice without overpowering the fruit.In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby red. The bouquet is elegant and complex, characterized by dark cherries, ripe plums and spicy notes, complemented by subtle hints of spices and subtle wood. On the palate, the Amandelboord Pinotage is full-bodied and balanced, with supple tannins, clear fruit and a fine, structured freshness. The finish is long, harmonious and refined, with depth and elegance.A Pinotage with provenance, history and character that is an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat, lamb, game dishes or spicy, hearty dishes and impressively demonstrates how finely and stylishly this grape variety can be interpreted.

The De Toren Délicate is an elegant, fresh red wine cuvée from the South African wine estate De Toren, which is known for precise, balanced wines with a clear style. The nose reveals fine aromas of roses and ripe strawberries. On the palate, the wine presents itself with a medium body, juicy fruit and very gentle, well-integrated tannins. The Edition Z from the South African wine estate De Toren is a cuvée or a blend, as they say in South Africa, of the Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grape varieties. De Toren Fusion V 2020

If you want to taste one of the absolute top wines from South Africa, De Toren Fusion V is a must. The V stands for the 5 Bordeaux grape varieties used in the wine. The quality is on a par with the great wines from Bordeaux.After hand-picking and selecting the grapes, a long, gentle fermentation followed. Maturation took place over a period of 12 months in 50% new and 50% second-fill barrels. Barrels of 225 liters were used. (90% French and 10% American) In the glass a clear violet with a slight sparkle. The nose is characterized by blueberry, cedar, black cherry, dark chocolate and a hint of fennel. On the palate, De Toren Fusion V offers a silky fullness with a hint of sweet fruit. The overall package of well-integrated tannins, long-lasting depth, firm structure and minerality makes this wine a top product.Pair it with grilled or roasted lamb with garlic and rosemary.
