The Boplaas Ring of Rocks Family Reserve from Boplaas Family Vineyards is an exceptional red wine that is only released in limited vintages and reflects the diversity and heritage of the Boplaas vineyards in the Cape. The grapes are harvested in the early hours of the morning, gently fermented in open cement fermenters and aged for 14 months in French oak barrels (1st and 2nd fill) before the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.Deep maroon with a violet core, the wine seduces with aromas of ripe plums, cherries, blackberry jam, olive tapenade, fynbos and subtle notes of cocoa, mint and spices. On the palate, it displays elegant, still youthfully taut tannins and a complex, harmonious interplay of aromas.The Boplaas Ring of Rocks Family Reserve is an ideal accompaniment to hearty meat dishes such as rack of lamb or Beef Wellington as well as mature cheese and charcuterie. Enjoy it at 16-18 °C, preferably slightly decanted.

Boplaas Red Muscadel 2025

The Boplaas Red Muscadel comes from the traditional Boplaas wine estate, which has been closely associated with the production of high-quality Muscat wines since the mid-19th century. This grape variety, Muscat de Frontignan, forms the historical basis of the South African Muscat tradition and is at the heart of Boplaas wine production. Only in exceptional vintages are the grapes from low-yielding, selected vineyards harvested by hand and processed into this characterful Red Muscadel.The grapes are harvested in the early hours of the morning, pressed in traditional lagares and left on the skins for three days, with intensive manual pigeages. The natural fermentation is stopped by spraying, which releases the complex variety of aromas that characterize the Boplaas Red Muscadel.In the glass, it is a bright crimson red and captivates with aromas of cranberry, mulberry, fresh strawberry jam, jasmine, rooibos and the typical nutmeg spice. Der faszinierend komplexe Duftstrauß bietet darüber hinaus Noten von Tabak und grünen Oliven, dazu Nuancen von Trüffel und Menthol.In John Platter’s Wine Guide erhält dieser Rotwein aus Südafrika 93 Punkte. Kritikerin Cathy Marston erkennt Kirschfrucht, Leder, Wild und Würze.Auch am Gaumen hinterlässt dieser ungewöhnliche Blend aus 41% Sangiovese, 26% Nebbiolo, 5% Barbera, 14% Shiraz, 11% Pinot Noir, 3% Mourvedre Eindruck. Der trockene Rotwein aus dem Hemel-en-Aarde-Tal, unweit der Walker Bay im Südatlantik, hat einen mittleren Körper und zugleich eine wunderbar anregende Säure.
