The Compagniesdrift Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot comes from the South African winery Compagniesdrift in Stellenbosch, which is known for its precise, balanced red wines.

This cuvée combines the depth of Cabernet Sauvignon with the fruity sweetness of Merlot to create a harmonious, approachable red wine. The wine has a dark, ruby red color with a lively sheen and seductive aromas of blackcurrants, plums and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it impresses with juicy fruit, soft tannins and a round, harmonious finish.

The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, gently destemmed and minimally pressed to preserve the quality of the berries. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is matured in 300-liter barrels, where malolactic fermentation also takes place, resulting in its round, accessible structure.

The Compagniesdrift Chardonnay comes from the Compagniesdrift wine estate in Stellenbosch.This fresh white wine from the Chardonnay grape has a pale yellow color with a lively greenish shimmer. The nose reveals seductive aromas of white pears, apricots and fine lemon notes, which develop harmoniously in the glass. On the palate, the Chardonnay impresses with its elegant fruit, fine creaminess and balanced freshness, making it easily accessible and versatile.The grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning, gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The white wine then matured for four months on the lees, which were stirred regularly to preserve its fullness and structure. Eine Hommage an die Gründerin von Steenberg, Catharina Ras. Five Lives symbolisiert ihre Lebensgeschichte, die in fünf Kapiteln beschrieben werden kann. Eine Frau, die Ihren Mut nutzte, sich anzupassen und jeder neuen Herausforderung fern von Ihrer Heimat Lübeck trotzte.Die Weinberge für den südafrikanischen Steenberg Five Lives Red Blend liegen auf altem Granit in der Region Westkap. Merlot und Cabernet Sauvignon werden in Edelstahltanks vinifiziert. Vor der Gärung werden 10-15 % des Saftes von den Schalen entfernt, um den Körper und die Fülle zu verbessern. Beide Sorten werden 14 Tage lang getrennt auf den Schalen vergoren. Zweimal am Tag wird abgepumpt, um Farbe und Tannin zu extrahieren. Nach der Gärung werden sie getrennt in kleine französische Eichenfässer umgefüllt. Die malolaktische Gärung findet im Fass statt und der Wein reift 20 Monate lang. Anschließend wird der Wein verschnitten und vor der Abfüllung leicht geklärt.Im Glas zeigt sich der Rotwein in einer intensiven dunkelroten Farbe mit einem helleren Granatrot am Rand. Die Nase umspielen Aromen von Schwarzer Johannisbeere, Cassis, Noten von Erde, Basilikum und Pflaume. Der Wein ist mittelkräftig bis vollmundig und zeigt eine seidige Textur und Tiefe sowie eine elegante Tanninstruktur. Noch lange nach dem letzten Schluck prägen den Gaumen pikantes Pesto aus sonnengetrockneten Tomaten, Tabakgewürz, Kirsche und Zimt. Der Merlot bildet das Rückgrat dieses Weins mit sauberen, hellen Früchten, die ihm subtile Frische verleihen. Der Cabernet Sauvignon bringt ein formales, ernsthaftes Profil in die Mischung ein.
