Anthonij Rupert Optima

Anthonij Rupert Protea Cabernet Sauvignon
The Protea Cabernet Sauvignon from the Anthonij Rupert Wines estate is a shining example of the quality of South African viticulture and offers fair value for money. The grapes for this wine come from the Groenekloof region located in the wine-growing region of Darling, where the days are warm and the nights are cool, so that there is a significant temperature difference. This, in combination with the dark red soils consisting of decomposed granite, gives the wine its unique mix of dark and red fruit aromas. The wine is wonderfully concentrated and soft, with a juicy tannin structure. The Protea Cabernet Sauvignon is round, soft, light and well-balanced on the palate, offering clearly noticeable, fruity aromas of plums, dark berries and cherries, along with fine notes of spices. The fruit aromas wonderfully unite with the notes of oak, resulting in a long, harmonious finish. This wine can be enjoyed simply on its own to finish off the day. It also goes beautifully with all dishes that are not too hearty.

Anthonij Rupert Protea Chardonnay

Anthonij Rupert Syrah
The Anthonij Rupert Syrah comes from strictly selected vines from the Franschhoek Valley in South Africa. A pre-selection is made as early as the hand-picking stage. Only the best grapes find their way into the wine. Both the fermentation and the subsequent maturation, which lasts an average of 21 months, take place in French oak barrels. The Anthonij Rupert Syrah was then bottled unfiltered and matured for a further 2 years. The red wine has a wonderful aroma of violets, plums, raspberries and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is amazingly complex but extremely multi-faceted. Beautiful fruity notes are in harmony with spicy notes and a gently integrated tannin structure. The finish is also juicy, balanced and convincingly long. For a long evening in front of the fireplace or as an accompaniment to a festive meal, you will hardly find anything better. Open the wine at least two hours before drinking and give it some time to develop in the glass.

Waterford Kevin Arnold Shiraz
The Shiraz (or Syrah) grape variety repeatedly achieves exceptional qualities in South Africa. The Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Shiraz 2020 is an impressive example of this. Winemaker Kevin Arnold is an avowed fan of the grape variety. He has also managed to create a Shiraz in the Blaauwklippen Valley in not too long a time (Waterford Estate was founded in 1998) that plays in the international premier league. The bouquet of the Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Shiraz combines multi-layered notes of dark plums with intense floral notes of violets. Nuances of licorice and leather as well as subtle earthy tones and a fine spiciness round off the bouquet. On the palate, this South African red wine is dry and engaging, with well-structured, velvety-soft tannins. Meryl Weaver writes of "powerful but supple tannins" in John Platter's Wine Guide. She honors the Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Shiraz 2020 with 92 points (4.5 out of 5 stars). Great balance and fine acidity. The finish is concentrated and cool, with a long aftertaste.6% Mourvèdre are part of the composition. The red wine from the Stellenbosch region matured for more than 20 months in French oak barrels. The fact that Waterford Estate associates something special with its Shiraz wines can also be seen in the fact that each wine is named after a child of the Ord and Arnold families, the owners of the wine estate. The Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Shiraz is dedicated to "Ashleigh Anne".
