This Protea Pinot Grigio from Anthonij Rupert in South Africa is not your everyday wine. Pinot Grigio and South Africa? Yes, you read that right. This grape variety, which is very widespread in Europe, has also found its way to South Africa and Anthonij Rupert has achieved wonderful results.

Wonderfully seductive fresh notes of pear, honeydew melon and nectarine can be found on the nose. The Protea Pinot Grigio is really lively on the palate, juicy with lively stone fruit notes and a fresh, stimulating citrus fruit. Die Trauben für den Protea Chardonnay vom Weingut Anthonij Rupert stammen aus verschiedenen Weingärten in Franschhoek und Robertson. Die einzelnen Partien wurden separat vergoren und zum Teil in französischer Eiche ausgebaut, um dem Wein eine höhere Komplexität und Struktur zu geben. Am Ende wurden alle Partien gemischt und abgefüllt. Noten der Blutorange konkurrieren mit Aromen von Grapefruit und Zitrone in der Nase. Auch am Gaumen findet sich beim Protea Chardonnay die Spritzigkeit von Zitrusfrüchten wieder. Die Saftigkeit einer Blutorange und von Pampelmuse ist im Mund deutlich wahrzunehmen.
