Der Scheiblhofer Big John Cuvée Reserve ist ein wunderbares Beispiel für die herausragende Weinbaukunst von Scheiblhofer.Die Assemblage aus Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon und Pinot Noir strahlt im Glas in einem dichten Violett mit rubinroten Rändern. Das Bukett dieses österreichischen Rotweins ist faszinierend intensiv und facettenreich. Es vereint eine große Fruchtigkeit (Schwarzkirschen, Brombeeren, Zwetschgen) mit delikaten Noten von Karamell, Nougat, gerösteter Eiche und unterschwelligen Noten von Tabak.Am Gaumen ist der Scheiblhofer Big John Cuvée Reserve trocken, frisch und saftig, mit merklichen, wunderbar ins Aromenspiel eingebundenen Tanninen. Auch hier zeigt sich die intensive Frucht (Johannisbeere), dazu kommen die anregenden Karamelltöne und eine feine Süße, die das Finale begleitet.92 Punkte vergibt Peter Moser im Falstaff für diese Cuvée von Scheiblhofer. 12 Monate reifte der Ausnahmewein im Barrique. Shannon Rockview Ridge Pinot Noir 2019

Dieser Pinot Noir aus dem Elgin Valley in Südafrika lässt keine Genusswünsche offen: Animierende Noten von Himbeere, Erdbeere, Johannisbeere und Kirsche vereinen sich zu einem faszinierenden Bukett. Dazu kommen, so formuliert es Tim James in John Platter’s Wine Guide, herzhafte Noten von Waldboden.Der reinsortige Pinot Noir aus Südafrika reifte für etwa ein Jahr im französischen Barrique aus Burgund heran. Zum Einsatz kamen dabei Fässer von drei verschiedenen Küfern und 20 Prozent neue Eiche sowie Fässer zweiter (40%) und dritter (20%) Füllung.Das Elgin Valley galt lange als das Zentrum des Anbaus von Äpfeln und Birnen in Südafrika. Mittlerweile haben einige Weingüter bewiesen, wie ideal das Terroir auch für den Anbau hochwertiger Weine ist. Das Weingut Shannon zählt dazu.

Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) Brut 2024

This sparkling wine shines bright gold. It is elegant and remarkably fresh in the glass with its lively bubbles. Contrasting notes of peach and red berries reflect the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grape varieties. On the palate, aromas of peach and apple are supported by a beautiful balance of acidity and fruitiness. All the grapes for this sparkling wine were harvested by hand. They were gently pressed to extract the particularly aromatic free-run juices. To increase the complexity, part of the Chardonnay was matured in older French oak. Enjoy the Kaapse Vonkel Brut at a drinking temperature of 6-8 °C now or give it a little more time. Over the next four years, it will gain in richness and complexity. Goes well with pâtés, cake desserts or fresh mussels in the evening.

The Thénard Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi is redolent of strawberries and wild berries, along with elegantly spicy aromas, nuances of forest floor and a lovely minerality as well. This pure varietal Pinot Noir is powerful on the palate, with noticeable but skilfully integrated tannins and a very long finish.This fine creation comes from the venerable Domaine Thénard estate whose origins go back to the 1870s. The Corton vineyard, a Grand Cru site located on the Côte d’Or in Burgundy, is one of the exceptional vineyards owned by the winery. The wine was aged for 18 months in oak casks and is characterised by clay and lime soils.The ruby-red Pinot Noir is an ideal accompaniment to various cheeses, game or red meat. By the way, the winery was founded by Paul Thénard. The eminent French chemist fought against the phylloxera plague in the 19th century.
