Château Charmail Haut-Médoc AOC 2018

Château Charmail is known for producing wines that very often score significantly higher than their price would suggest. Charmail, classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, was taken over by Oliver Seze in the 1980s and underwent a "horse cure" of renewal until the wines once again reached the level of the terroir on which its vines grow. As a neighbor of Sociando-Mallet and Phélan-Ségur, the Gironde is not far away and the wine is now one of the best in the Haut-Médoc. Seze is still active as a consultant, but has handed over the vineyard to Bernard d'Halluin and his daughter Marie.2018 is the first year of the "dream trilogy" 2018, 2019 and 2020, which produced outstanding wines in the Bordelais. The cuvée consists of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot.The appeal of this wine lies in its creaminess and fine fruit, with underlying sweet aromas. Blue and black berries, cassis, tobacco and chocolate delight the nose. Silky on the palate, with a medium-full body, toasty notes from the wood, which do not dominate, and polished tannins. The finish is long lasting.This elegant and balanced Haut-Médoc is already ready to drink, but only after about an hour of decanting. However, it should still have a span of at least 15 years ahead of it, provided it is stored properly, of course.The 2018 offers a great drinking experience at an excellent price-performance ratio. Château Charmail, located in the north of the Médoc, is the neighbor of Sociando-Mallet and has an exceptionally good terroir close to the Gironde. Formerly dormant, this estate woke up a few decades ago and produces fresh and fruity wines that have propelled Château Charmail into the top league of the Left Bank. It is important to bear in mind that the prices for this grape juice are still more than moderate, making Charmail one of the absolute price-performance winners in the whole of Bordeaux. The 2019 vintage is also exceptionally successful and is considered part of the century trilogy (2018-2020).A wonderfully deep ruby red glows in the glass. On the nose, the typically delicate fruit of Château Charmail, with cassis, blackberries, redcurrants and a hint of elderberry. On the palate, the red and blueberry character intensifies, framed by tobacco, licorice, leather and a little graphite, as well as mint and cedar. Everything is very fresh and harmonious, with good structure and race and some residual sweetness, which balances wonderfully with the intense fruit. Although the tannins are present, they are not over-represented, but appear polished and polished. The finish is extremely long.Château Charmail 2019 is a winner in its price category and scores even higher. Château Chasse-Spleen 2020

Chasse-Spleen, aus der Appellation Moulis, ist seit den 1980er Jahren ein immer verlässlicher, charaktervoller Wein, der preislich nie über das Ziel hinausschießt. Vielleicht ist auch das einer der Gründe, warum der Chasse-Spleen so beliebt ist und eine treue Anhängerschaft in Deutschland sein eigen nennt.Der 2020er Chasse-Spleen ist ein wunderbar klassischer Vertreter Bordeauxs, der dem Kenner durch seine Tiefgründigkeit und Rotfruchtigkeit gefallen wird.Die Assemblage besteht aus 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot.Die Farbe ist ein funkelndes, tiefes Bordeaux-Rot. In der Nase Röstnoten, Vanille und etwas Kirsche. Nach etwas Belüftung treten herrliche Aromen roter Früchte hinzu. Am Gaumen eine schöne Stoffigkeit, der Merlot bringt die Fülle, der Cabernet Sauvignon ist für die Finesse und den seidigen Touch verantwortlich. Die vorhandenen Tannine bringen eine schöne Balance in die Gleichung mit ein. Der Abgang ist lang und intensiv.Die Trinkreife dürfte bis ca. 2030 andauern. Der Chasse-Spleen 2020 passt hervorragend zu Wild, Braten, Pasta oder gereiftem Käse.Neil Martin: 90-92/100 Punkte; René Gabriel: 16/20.

Das Château d´Aurilhac ist ein Cru Bourgeois des Haut-Médoc und befindet sich nördlich der renommierten Appellation Saint-Estèphe. Zu den Nachbarn gehören Sociando-Mallet und Charmail, vor denen sich d´Aurilhac jedoch keinesfalls verstecken muss. Seit Anfang des Milleniums werden hier auf höchstem Niveau Rebsäfte produziert, die die klassischen Werte Bordeauxs, zu kleinen Preisen, repräsentieren.Beim Château d´Aurilhac vereinen sich die hohen Qualitätsansprüche des holländischen Besitzers, Erik Nieuwaal, mit den optimalen Voraussetzungen eines herausragenden Bordeaux-Jahrganges.Uns fasziniert besonders an diesem Wein, wie fleischig, tiefgründig und facettenreich ist, im besten Sinne eines sehr guten Bordeaux. Die typische Assemblage aus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot und ein bisschen Petit Verdot. Dennoch ist bereits jetzt so viel Frucht vorhanden, dass erste Trinkversuche gestartet werden können.André Kunz vergibt satte 18/20 für dieses Meisterstück eines Cru Bourgeois und führt aus: „Dichtes, tiefgründiges, kräftiges Bouquet, schwarze Beeren, Cassis, Korinthen, Lakritze. Fein konzentrierter, vielschichtiger, aromatischer Gaumen mit viel feinem Tannin, dunkler, süsser Frucht, vielfältiger, kräftiger Aromatik, langer, aromatischer Abgang.“Hinzuzufügen ist eigentlich nur noch, dass man einen besseren Bordeaux zu einem solchen Preis nicht bekommen kann. Chateau du Retout Cru Bourgeois 2020

Auf Château du Retout, geführt vom Ehepaar Helene und Frederic Soual-Kopp, entstehen seit nunmehr fast 20 Jahren wunderbar klassische Bordeaux-Weine, die sich kaum hinter einem noch so großen Namen aus dem Médoc verstecken müssen. Verantwortlich hierfür ist zum einen das herausragende Terroir dieses Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, zum anderen aber auch die Hingabe seiner Besitzer, die ihr nahe der Appellation Margaux gelegenes Weingut bewußt umweltfreundlich führen und mit dem Label HVE3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale) ausgezeichnet sind. Das Beste an Château du Retout ist indes der Preis; Weine von derart umwerfender Qualität dürften weltweit kaum zu solch moderaten Preisen zu finden sein.2020 war ein ausgezeichnetes Jahr am linken Ufer der Gironde, und so macht es uns Spaß, Ihnen diesen Wein präsentieren zu dürfen, der dominiert wird von einem hohen Anteil Cabernet Sauvignon (der Rebberg setzt sich aus 74 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 16 % Merlot und 10 % Petit Verdot zusammen).Der du Retout 2020 wirkt verführerisch fruchtig an der Nase, mit viel Schwarzkirsche, schwarzen Johannisbeeren, Brombeeren, Pflaume und Cassis. Auch Pflaume, etwas Lakritz und Zedernholz, Gewürznoten, Sandelholz und Kakao spielen hier mit durchaus straffen, aber gut integrierten Tanninen zusammen. Das Gesamtpaket ist äußerst intensiv, mit einem lang nachhallenden Ausklang. Ein Best-Buy-Wein, der nach etwas Dekantieren bereits jetzt schon genossen werden kann, allerdings von einer Kellerreife noch profitieren wird.Wir empfehlen den du Retout 2020 Solo, oder aber als food-pairing mit Ente, Geschmortem, Rind, Lamm und Hartkäse.Gabriel (A. Chateau Gloria 2020

Dieses Château aus der berühmten Appellation Saint Julien im Médoc ist bis heute im Familienbesitz und produziert Jahr für Jahr einen der besten Weine der Region.2020 war ein sehr guter Jahrgang in einer Reihe von Ausnahmejahrgängen (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) und knüpft nahtlos an die Erfolge dieser Weine an.65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot und 5% Cabernet Franc stellen die Assemblage dieses Cru Bourgeois.Noch etwas verschlossen, ist hier viel Frucht und Beerigkeit vorhanden; dazu Tabak, Rauch, Grafit, Brombeeren, Cassis und Veilchen. Sehr klassischer Saint Julien-Gaumen, der sich zwischen Pauillac Power und Struktur und Eleganz einpendelt. Deutliche, saftige Tannine, die aber noch schmelziger werden. Weine vom Château Gloria haben ein gutes Alterungspotential und brauchen etwas Geduld. Der Abgang ist lang und aromatisch.Trinkreif ab voraussichtlich 2027, dann aber mit einer "Mindestlaufzeit" von einem Vierteljahrhundert.Winespectator: 93-96/100 Punkte; James Suckling: 94/100 Punkte; René Gabriel: 17/20 Punkte (mit Aussicht auf mehr).

Der Wein wird für 8 Monate im Barrique ausgebaut, davon 30% neues Holz.Im Weinberg wird äußerst schonend mit dem Wein und dem Ökosystem gearbeitet; der La Caderie Authentique 2018 trägt daher das Zertifizierungslabel "AB" (Agriculture Biologique) für organic viticulture.Die sehr ausdrucksstarke Nase begeistert mit Aromen von dunklen Früchten und Gewürzen; der Gaumen ist vollmundig und stoffig und es spiegeln sich diese Facetten wider. Der Abgang ist lang und anhaltend.Ein harmonischer Bordeaux, mit einem tollen Preis- Leistungsverhältnis, der sowohl beim Concours de Bordeaux, als auch bei der Challenge International die Medaille d´Argent gewonnen hat.Er passt perfekt zu Geflügel, Gegrilltem oder hartgereiftem Käse.

Château Labégorce Margaux AOC 2018

Château Labégorce, located at the northern end of Margaux, is back on the map of the great wines of this appellation, and the 2018 vintage is no exception, quite the contrary. The vineyard extends over 70 hectares of vines, surrounded by such prestigious neighbors as Château Margaux and Château Lascombes.The cuvée consists of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine matures for 12-14 months in French oak barrels, 40-50% of which are new barrels. In the glass, Château Labégorce 2018 is a deep purple-garnet with a black center. The bouquet seduces with intense aromas of ripe blackcurrants, cherries and cassis, accompanied by spicy notes such as tobacco, exotic woods and a hint of liquorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a silky texture and well-integrated, fine-grained tannins. The finish is long and characterized by a subtle fruity sweetness and a pleasant freshness.Château Labégorce 2018 harmonizes perfectly with hearty dishes such as grilled beef, lamb chops, game dishes or stews. Matured cheese or black pudding also go well with this wine. For a special taste experience, we recommend pairing it with truffle aioli chicken hearts or wild boar with wild herb sauce.This wine has excellent ageing potential. Consisting of 46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, Château Labégorce is a model wine from the Margaux appellation with a great price-performance ratio. 2019 was a particularly good year on the left bank of the Gironde, enabling this vineyard, located on the northern edge of Margaux, to produce an exceptional grape juice of great precision and intensity.The 2019 Labégorce was matured in French oak, 40% of which was new barrels. Château Labégorce Margaux 2020 is an excellent representative of the renowned Margaux appellation in the heart of the Bordeaux region in south-west France. Château Labégorce, whose roots date back to the 18th century, stands for elegance, sophistication and a deep understanding of traditional Bordeaux winemaking. The 2020 vintage benefited from a particularly favorable climate: a warm, dry summer with occasional rainfall in August ensured optimally ripened grapes with excellent concentration and freshness.The 2020 cuvée is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Merlot (45%), supplemented by smaller proportions of Petit Verdot (2%) and Cabernet Franc (3%) - a classic composition that reflects the character of Margaux wines.In the glass, the wine is a deep, dark ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, it unfolds a complex interplay of aromas of blackcurrant, ripe plum and cherry, accompanied by fine notes of cedar wood, licorice, tobacco and roasted coffee - a typical expression of the careful barrique maturation.On the palate, Château Labégorce 2020 is powerful and elegant at the same time. Château Lanessan Haut-Médoc 2020

Bereits 1793 kaufte der Bordelaiser Weinhändler Jean Delbos das Rebland auf außerordentlich gutem Terroir, gelegen zwischen so renommierten Châteaux wie Gruaud-Larose und Beychevelle. Der trockene Rotwein wird vom Cabernet Sauvignon dominiert, mit etwa 1/3 Anteil Merlot und etwas Petit Verdot.Ein ganz klassischer und typischer Haut-Médoc Bordeaux, der durchaus etwas Lagerung verträgt und bis zum Jahre 2030 immer noch weiter zulegen wird. Paz Espejo, die im Jahre 2009 als Managerin das Gut übernommen hat, hat mit dem 2016er Jahrgang eine kleine Wein-Ikone geschaffen, die dem traditionellen Bild Bordeauxs huldigt. Gute Frucht, mittlerer Körper, durchaus präsente Tannine, viel rote Beeren, Kirsche, Cassis und eine wahre Fundgrube von Waldnoten bestimmen den Charakter des Château Lanessan Haut-Médoc, der dem Jahrgang entsprechend eine Hohe Qualität bietet. Der Abgang ist beeindruckend lang. Dieser noch sehr junge Wein aus Frankreich profitiert von einer Dekantierung von 1-2 Stunden und passt hervorragend zu Lamm, Steak, Hack- oder Schmorbraten.

Château Le Boscq Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois AOC 2019

Château Le Boscq ist Cru Buorgeois Exceptionel aus der nördlichsten Appellation des Médoc am linken Ufer von Bordeaux, nämlich aus Saint-Estèphe. Die Weine aus dieser Region gelten als besonders charaktervoll und langlebig; wenn dann noch ein Traum-Jahrgang wie 2019 hinzukommt, steht einem großartigen Bordeaux-Erlebnis nichts mehr im Wege. Die Assemblage besteht zu 46% aus Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot und 2% Cabernet Franc; Château Le Boscq reifte für 12 Monate in französischen Eichenfässern nach. Das Auge zeigt bereits die Tiefgründigkeit dieses Weines; ein rot-schwarzes Rubingranat mit violetten Reflexen. In der Nase sehr expressive Schwarzbeerigkeit, Edelholzwürze, Cassis, Bleistift, Blaubeere, Maulbeeren und Kirsche. Dazu gesellen sich Waldfrüchte am Gaumen, Lakritz und viel Würze. Der Nachklang hält ausgesprochen lange an. Ein sehr intensives Weinerlebnis, mit Tanninen, die noch ausreifen müssen. Dieser Wein benötigt noch einige Zeit Ruhe, um zur vollen Genussreife und Entfaltung zu gelangen, was nicht untypisch für die Weine aus Saint-Estèphe ist.
