Dieser erste „Old Vine“ (die Reben müssen älter als 40 Jahre sein) des Weinguts Diemersfontein würdigt einen italienischen Kriegsgefangenen namens Cesare Zanardi, der in den 1940er Jahren auf dem Weingut gearbeitet hat. Nach Kriegsende kehrte er nach Italien zurück und wurde ein erfolgreicher Uhrmacher in Bozen, Südtirol. Die Verbindung zu den Sonnenbergs, Inhaber von Diemersfontein, riss aber nie ab und so besteht bis heute in der 3. Generation eine Freundschaft zwischen den Familien.Im Glas leuchtet der Diemersfontein The Clockmaker Chenin Blanc in einem klaren, strahlenden Strohgelb. The Dornier Cocoa Hill Chenin Blanc comes from the Stellenbosch and Swartland wine regions in the Western Cape, South Africa. Inspired by the adventurous story of the pirate Long Ben, who once made Table Bay unsafe and later planted vines on Cocoa Hill, this wine embodies the spirit of the coast and the fertile soils that produce the grapes today.This versatile grape variety has been vinified into a fresh and fruity style of wine with a vibrant, bright color. On the nose, the white wine has delicate aromas of passion fruit and lychee, which continue on the palate with a lively and refreshing acidity. Dornier Moordernaarskloof Chenin Blanc 2022

The Moordenaarskloof Chenin Blanc comes from a unique vineyard on the Keerweerder estate, on the slopes of the Stellenbosch Mountains. This small but versatile parcel is characterized by three different soil types, which give the wine remarkable complexity and depth. Since its planting in 1986 at the foot of the Moordenaarskloof at an altitude of 230 meters, the vineyard has been characterized by a natural balance of growth and yield, which is reflected in the quality of the grapes.The grapes are harvested by hand in the cool morning hours at the beginning of February and gently pressed. After a cold, natural clarification of the must, fermentation takes place in old 300-liter French oak barrels. The wine remains on the lees until bottling, which gives it a creamy texture and a special fullness. Gentle production with minimal intervention guarantees the authentic expression of the terroir and the Chenin Blanc variety.In the glass, the Dornier Moordenaarskloof Chenin Blanc is a light, pale straw yellow. Delicate scents of wild flowers and Cape honeysuckle unfold on the nose, accompanied by aromas of white peaches and pineapple. A fine minerality gives the wine additional depth. The Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Chenin blanc is a white wine with very long ageing potential. The winery gives the wine a lifespan of 15 years under optimal storage conditions. This is partly due to the fact that the grapes come from 40-year-old bush vines and find excellent growing conditions in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa. Fermentation and maturation were carried out using used French oak barrels in order to protect the delicate fruit of the Chenin Blanc. Filtration was deliberately avoided before bottling in order to preserve the aromatic fruit in its entirety.The Family Reserve Chenin blanc from Kleine Zalze has notes of white flowers and quince on the nose. The wine has an intense aroma of apricot, lemon, melon and honey. Extremely complex on the palate with well-integrated oak. A hint of minerality on the finish.The Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Chenin blanc is an excellent accompaniment to food. It complements hearty starters as well as white meat dishes and well-seasoned fish dishes.

Miles Mossop pursues a clear philosophy: he sources grapes from exceptional vineyards, picks them at the optimum point of ripeness and guides them through the natural winemaking process to produce expressive, individual wines of the highest quality - wines that he himself enjoys drinking.The pure Miles Mossop Chenin Blanc from certified old bush vines - which were planted in 1982 in the Bottelary Ward of Stellenbosch on weathered slate soils - displays a brilliant, deep straw-yellow color. The nose reveals floral notes of orange blossom and honeysuckle, complemented by hints of white peach, yellow fruit and subtle citrus notes. On the palate, the white wine impresses with full, rich fruit, a grippy medium body and a structured finish with roasted almonds and light citrus bitterness.The grapes are harvested by hand, gently pressed and transferred to 400-liter old French oak barrels for spontaneous fermentation. The wine is then aged sur lie for 11 months with regular lees stirring and undergoes partial malolactic fermentation to develop depth, richness and complexity.The Miles Mossop Chenin Blanc is an excellent accompaniment to grilled fish, poultry dishes or light Mediterranean dishes.Served at 8-10 °C, it unfolds its full aroma. Miles Mossop The Introduction Chenin Blanc is an elegant white wine from the Coastal region of South Africa that highlights the versatility and finesse of the Chenin Blanc grape. Miles Mossop places particular emphasis on precision craftsmanship: each grape is harvested at the perfect point of ripeness and carefully guided through the natural winemaking process to create expressive, fresh and balanced wines - wines that impress with personality.For this cuvée, the grapes are harvested by hand at different times to optimally preserve both the fresh stone fruit notes and the riper yellow fruit notes of Chenin Blanc - without losing acidity or freshness. The fruit comes from old, unirrigated bush and trellis vineyards in Stellenbosch (84%) and the Swartland (16%). 80% of the wine fermented in stainless steel tanks, 18% in old French oak barrels and 2% in a concrete egg. After around three weeks of fermentation on natural yeasts, the wine matured on the lees for six months before being blended and bottled.In the glass, the Introduction Chenin Blanc has a brilliant, pale straw yellow color. The nose is complex, with aromas of white flowers, yellow peach, pineapple and citrus notes. Fresh yellow fruit opens up on the palate, complemented by grapefruit and stone fruit notes. The mid-palate is creamy, clearly structured and leads to a textured, slightly tart finish with a lively freshness.This wine is ideal on its own or as an accompaniment to light poultry and fish dishes, Mediterranean dishes or summer salads. Served at 8-10 °C, it develops its aromas to optimum effect. Suitable for early consumption, it will continue to develop over 3 to 5 years.
