This Chenin Blanc from South Africa is hard to beat in terms of value for money. The bouquet of the Stellenrust Chenin Blanc is wonderfully animating and fruity. It smells of lime, peach, melon, quince and fresh honey.
On the palate, this white wine from the Western Cape region is powerful and full of finesse. The dry, single-varietal Chenin convinces with a great spiciness and a pleasant minerality. The intense fruitiness is also characteristic here. Aromas of grapefruit and peach await connoisseurs.
16 percent of the grapes for the Stellenrust Chenin Blanc are fermented in French oak barriques (third and fourth fill barrels), the remaining 84 percent in stainless steel tanks. The wines then spend five months on the lees before blending and refining.
4 stars in John Platter's Wine Guide for the 2020 vintage, 4.5 stars for the 2021 vintage: the Stellenrust Chenin Blanc is a top product. "Sensational value" and "great value" are the verdicts of critics Fiona McDonald and Malu Lambert.
Enjoy this white wine from South Africa at a drinking temperature of 8 to 10 degrees. It goes perfectly with a salad with smoked chicken or a thinly sliced carpaccio, served on a bed of rocket with a lemon, olive oil and pepper dressing. But this Chenin is also a very good choice with steamed or grilled fish, seafood or green asparagus.
