Dornier Donatus Red 2019

The Donier Donatus is a masterful cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, sourced exclusively from the Dornier vineyard on the sun-drenched slopes of Stellenbosch Mountain. The unique combination of red, weathered granite soil and clay-rich soils ensures that the grapes ripen slowly and evenly. The result is a profound wine of impressive concentration and fine elegance.The hand-picked grapes are carefully selected in the cellar and fermented separately. Fermentation takes place in open fermentation vats with pumping over four times a day to ensure optimum extraction while preserving the fruit aromas. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, a third of which are new barrels - this gives the wine a fine spiciness and complexity without masking the freshness. The harmonious blending only takes place after maturation, so that only the best components make it into the bottle.In the glass, Donier Donatus impresses with an intense black-violet color and a multi-faceted aroma of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry. Subtle notes of licorice, dark cherry and cedar wood give the wine additional depth. On the palate, Donatus is elegant and balanced, with silky tannins that provide a pleasant structure. With the Eikendal Classique, the renowned wine estate from Stellenbosch presents a masterful Bordeaux-style cuvée. This exceptional Eikendal Infused by Earth Cabernet Franc comes from a particularly barren and stony section of the Classique vineyard, characterized by so-called "Koffieklip", deep clay and weathered granite. The vines grow there without artificial irrigation under natural stress conditions - the result: small, highly concentrated berries that produce a powerful yet elegant red wine.The grapes are harvested selectively in three stages of ripeness - from pre-fruit-fresh to fruit-fresh to ripe - which gives the wine a fascinatingly complex spectrum of aromas. A small proportion of whole grapes provides additional freshness and mineral notes. After a particularly long maceration period and natural spontaneous fermentation, the wine is matured for 12 months in 500-liter French oak barrels, whereby untoasted barriques do not mask the fine varietal character.In the glass, the Eikendal Cabernet Franc impresses with intense aromas of dark berries, herbs, fine spices and a hint of graphite. Groot Constantia Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Groot Constantia Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the historic Constantia wine region in the Western Cape. The vines grow on north-facing, granite-rich loam soils as well as on yellow-brown duplex soils formed from weathered sandstone and granite. The Mediterranean climate, with cooling breezes from the Atlantic, ensures a long ripening period and lends the wine its elegance and balance. The blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, and Tannat.The vineyards are trained using the Vertical Shot Position system and are tended and harvested exclusively by hand. Pest control is carried out using organic methods, while cover cropping is employed to promote soil health. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and regularly pumped over during fermentation. The wine then remains on the lees for four weeks before malolactic fermentation takes place, also in stainless steel tanks. Aging occurs for 14 months in 225-liter French oak barrels, including 53% new barriques as well as barrels in their second through fourth use.On the nose, the wine reveals concentrated aromas of blackberries, black currants, and plums, complemented by subtle notes of tobacco and leather. On the palate, it is complex and powerful, with a dense yet harmoniously integrated tannin structure that lends the wine depth, elegance, and a long finish.This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs excellently with grilled beef, lamb, game dishes, and braised meats. It is also an excellent accompaniment to aged hard cheeses.

Holden Manz Big G 2021

The ruby-red Holden Manz Big G is a tribute to the owner of the winery Gerard Holden, a strong, powerful and energetic man - like the wine, a full-flavoured and full-bodied Bordeaux blend. The wine, consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, is well-balanced, very well-structured and powerful. The grapes were picked by hand and only the best grapes from selected plots in the different vineyards were taken to create the Holden Manz Big G. The wine underwent a malolactic fermentation in French casks, of which 30% were new and 70% were used barrels. Subsequently, the wine was aged for another 24 months in wooden casks. The Holden Manz Big G offers aromas of black cherries, red plums, mint, bilberries and cedar in its bouquet, along with hints of pine and subtle herbal nuances. On the palate, it shows noticeable but soft tannins that unite with creamy notes of cassis. The prolonged finish is characterised by a splendid fullness of dark fruit. The Holden Manz Big G is an excellent accompaniment to dried meat or Beef Wellington.

Holden Manz Visionaire 2020

The name Holden Manz Visionaire already hides something special. It is an attempt to create an expressive wine from 6 different grape varieties. And it has succeeded! The interplay was a real challenge for the winemaker, as a wide variety of components had to be taken into account. The grapes were selected from different plots with different soil types. Ageing took place in 20% new 225-liter French oak barrels and 80% in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels. After 24 months of ageing, the wines were blended and bottled.The result is a wine of incredible complexity, with a perfect balance between residual sugar and acidity. The nose is spoiled by a multitude of aromas, such as mulberry, redcurrant, delicate notes of white pepper and violets. On the palate, the Holden Manz Visionaire is elegant and smooth with medium maturity. It is dominated by red and black fruits with an exceptional minerality.
