Château Charmail, located in the north of the Médoc, is the neighbor of Sociando-Mallet and has an exceptionally good terroir close to the Gironde. Formerly dormant, this estate woke up a few decades ago and produces fresh and fruity wines that have propelled Château Charmail into the top league of the Left Bank. It is important to bear in mind that the prices for this grape juice are still more than moderate, making Charmail one of the absolute price-performance winners in the whole of Bordeaux. The 2019 vintage is also exceptionally successful and is considered part of the century trilogy (2018-2020).A wonderfully deep ruby red glows in the glass. On the nose, the typically delicate fruit of Château Charmail, with cassis, blackberries, redcurrants and a hint of elderberry. On the palate, the red and blueberry character intensifies, framed by tobacco, licorice, leather and a little graphite, as well as mint and cedar. Everything is very fresh and harmonious, with good structure and race and some residual sweetness, which balances wonderfully with the intense fruit. Although the tannins are present, they are not over-represented, but appear polished and polished. The finish is extremely long.Château Charmail 2019 is a winner in its price category and scores even higher. The vineyards of Château du Gazin are located in the well-known appellation of Canon Fronsac, north-east of Bordeaux, very close to Saint Émilion and Pomerol.On around 30 hectares of vines, the Robert family is already the third generation to produce a red wine here, which consists of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec and is vinified entirely without the addition of sulphur. The work in the vineyard is also carried out with minimal use of chemicals. The dry wine from France is HVE 3 certified, the highest level of natural winemaking.It has a deep ruby red color. Dieses Château aus der berühmten Appellation Saint Julien im Médoc ist bis heute im Familienbesitz und produziert Jahr für Jahr einen der besten Weine der Region.2020 war ein sehr guter Jahrgang in einer Reihe von Ausnahmejahrgängen (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) und knüpft nahtlos an die Erfolge dieser Weine an.65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot und 5% Cabernet Franc stellen die Assemblage dieses Cru Bourgeois.Noch etwas verschlossen, ist hier viel Frucht und Beerigkeit vorhanden; dazu Tabak, Rauch, Grafit, Brombeeren, Cassis und Veilchen. Sehr klassischer Saint Julien-Gaumen, der sich zwischen Pauillac Power und Struktur und Eleganz einpendelt. Deutliche, saftige Tannine, die aber noch schmelziger werden. Weine vom Château Gloria haben ein gutes Alterungspotential und brauchen etwas Geduld. Der Spruch „in guten Jahren kleine Châteaus kaufen“ wird durch diesen Rebsaft mehr als bestätigt.Wir haben es hier mit einem wunderbar saftigen, zugänglichen und fruchtigen Vertreter Bordeaux zu tun, dessen Cuvée aus 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon und 10% Cabernet Franc besteht.Die Familie Chevillard, Eigentümer von Janoy-Bellevue, legt Wert darauf, dass die Weine früh konsumierbar sind und nicht zu stark im Fass ausgebaut werden. Ein eher klassischer Bordeaux, der uns durch seine Frische und Fruchtigkeit überzeugte. Viel attraktive Frucht also, insbesondere Blaubeeren, Kirschen, Pflaumen und ein Hauch von weißem Pfeffer bestimmen das Aromenbild. Die Tannine sind schön schmelzig und ergänzen sich sehr harmonisch mit der feinen Säure zu einem tollen Gesamtpaket, das durchaus nicht nur Bordeaux-Einsteigern gefallen dürfte.

The vineyard extends over 70 hectares of vines, surrounded by such prestigious neighbors as Château Margaux and Château Lascombes.The cuvée consists of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine matures for 12-14 months in French oak barrels, 40-50% of which are new barrels. In the glass, Château Labégorce 2018 is a deep purple-garnet with a black center. The bouquet seduces with intense aromas of ripe blackcurrants, cherries and cassis, accompanied by spicy notes such as tobacco, exotic woods and a hint of liquorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a silky texture and well-integrated, fine-grained tannins. The finish is long and characterized by a subtle fruity sweetness and a pleasant freshness.Château Labégorce 2018 harmonizes perfectly with hearty dishes such as grilled beef, lamb chops, game dishes or stews. Matured cheese or black pudding also go well with this wine.
