Baron de Brane is the second wine of the award-winning Cru Classé Château Brane Cantenac from Margaux. Wine connoisseurs will realize that this red wine must be something very special. Far from being second rate, this wine is an outstanding product of the Margaux appellation.The blend consists of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carmenere, aged for 12 months in wooden barrels with 30% new barrels. Fruit, elegance and Margaux refinement characterize the Baron der Brane. A price-performance miracle that impresses with dark berries and a typical Cabernet Sauvignon nose. This is followed by liquorice, blackberries, roasted notes and some tobacco on the palate. The finish is long and harmonious, the tannins are silky and well integrated. This red wine is an excellent accompaniment to BBQ game dishes, red meat and blue cheese.We think: A brilliant achievement from this Margaux estate, which is currently flying high. Die Familien Moulin und Cathiard haben 2014 Beauregard übernommen und die Qualität nochmals auf ein höheres Niveau gehoben. Dem Benjamin de Beauregard kommt dabei bei der Weinbereitung die selbe Sorgfalt zu, wie dem Grand Vin. Die Ernte wird auf Beauregard vollständig manuell ausgeführt. Der Benjamin wird im Holzfass ausgebaut, mit 30% Neufassanteil. Er ist von rubinroter Farbe. Die Nase umschmeicheln milde Düfte von dunklen Kirschen, Paprika, Karamell, Pflaumen und Kräutern. Am Gaumen überwiegen vor allem die Früchte und die feine Struktur imponiert. Der Abgang ist ebenfalls durch dunkle Früchte charakterisiert. Der Wein zeigt eine schöne Balance und Ausgeglichenheit. Er ist jetzt bereits nach etwas dekantieren trinkreif, bleibt aber durchaus noch 8 Jahren auf dem Höhepunkt. Köstlich in Kombination mit rotem Fleisch, Wildgerichten und Käse.

The vineyards are situated on the region’s characteristic clay-limestone soils, which provide the vines with a good water supply even in warm years and lend the wines freshness and structure. The wine is made from 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc. Vinification takes place in concrete and stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit aromas and regional character as authentically as possible.In the glass, the 2022 vintage presents a deep ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of black currants, ripe cherries, and dark wild berries unfold, accompanied by subtle spice notes, a hint of licorice, and delicate hints of herbs. Und er wird nicht enttäuscht!58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot und 3% Cabernet Franc bilden die Cuvée dieses Weines, der in diesem sonnenverwöhnten Jahrgang zu einem Höhenflug angesetzt hat, was seinen Charme und Appeal betrifft.Der Wein zeigt ein süßes, verführerisches Frucht-Bouquet, viel Pflaume, Kaffee, Pfeffer, schwarze Kirschen und Lakritz. Am Gaumen eine gute Frucht, seidige Tannine und eine sehr klassische Struktur. Der Abgang ist fein und lang.Der Branaire Ducru dürfte ab 202025 trinkreif sein. Wer ihn vorher probieren möchte, begeht zwar keine Sünde, sollte ihn aber vorher gehörig lange dekantieren.Wir empfehlen diesen außergewöhnlichen Saint Julien solo, aber auch zu Geschmortem, Geflügel, Wild oder Gegrilltem.

Château Cantemerle greets wine travelers on the D2, the most famous wine route in the world, like a kind of gatekeeper to the Médoc peninsula. Arriving from Bordeaux, Château La Lagune on the right and Château Cantemerle on the left send you on a trip to the wonderland of Bordeaux. The estate has been classified as a Cinquieme Grand Cru Classé since the 1855 classification, making it one of the "caste" of the truly best and most prestigious wines of the Bordelais.2019 was the second year in a series of three outstanding years in Bordeaux. Unsurprisingly, the Cantemerle 2019 is a shining testament to this fact, and not just in terms of its beautiful, deep red sparkling robe. The blend consists of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc.This Cantemerle matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 40% new barrels.Lots of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, freshly picked flowers, wood and wild mushrooms on the nose. The palate is not too full-bodied, with polished tannins and good structure. A rather softer representative of the left bank, but still a very classic Bordeaux. Château Chante Alouette Grand Cru Saint-Émilion AOC 2018

Chante Alouette 2018 is a typical Bordeaux from the right bank of the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vineyards are located between such famous neighbors as Château Pavie and La Gaffeliére; the sand and clay soils, in addition to careful vinification, are responsible for producing particularly elegant and rich wines with a lot of charm.Château Chante Aloutte was taken over in 1995 by the Guy d'Arfeuille family, who combine the best of tradition and modernity while respecting and appreciating nature. The blend consists of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. It is matured in barriques with 30% new wood for one year.The 2018 Chante Alouette has a deep garnet-purple color. Blueberries, sweet cherries, licorice, baked plums, tobacco and violets on the nose. The palate is wonderfully elegant, opening up a world of dark fruits with chocolate. Lots of velvet and well-integrated tannins with an intense finish complete a very rounded picture of the exceptional 2018 vintage.A wonderful solo wine, drinkable now until around 2038, which also cuts an excellent figure with game, braised meat, grilled lamb or hard cheese.

Château Charmail Haut-Médoc AOC 2018

Château Charmail is known for producing wines that very often score significantly higher than their price would suggest. Charmail, classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, was taken over by Oliver Seze in the 1980s and underwent a "horse cure" of renewal until the wines once again reached the level of the terroir on which its vines grow. As a neighbor of Sociando-Mallet and Phélan-Ségur, the Gironde is not far away and the wine is now one of the best in the Haut-Médoc. Seze is still active as a consultant, but has handed over the vineyard to Bernard d'Halluin and his daughter Marie.2018 is the first year of the "dream trilogy" 2018, 2019 and 2020, which produced outstanding wines in the Bordelais. The cuvée consists of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot.The appeal of this wine lies in its creaminess and fine fruit, with underlying sweet aromas. Blue and black berries, cassis, tobacco and chocolate delight the nose. Silky on the palate, with a medium-full body, toasty notes from the wood, which do not dominate, and polished tannins. The finish is long lasting.This elegant and balanced Haut-Médoc is already ready to drink, but only after about an hour of decanting. However, it should still have a span of at least 15 years ahead of it, provided it is stored properly, of course.The 2018 offers a great drinking experience at an excellent price-performance ratio.
