This Pinot Noir offers a fascinatingly multi-layered bouquet of rose petals, dark cherries, allspice, pepper, and anise. Winnie Bowman awards this Pinot Noir from the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley 4.5 stars (94 points!) in John Platter’s Wine Guide. Bowman notes earthy aromas of red and black fruits.The aromatic intensity on the palate is equally impressive. Lush notes of cherries and plums intermingle with earthy aromas of mushrooms and spices. Bowman further writes of a “spicy, defining tannin structure from 60% new oak for 12 months” and of a top-class wine with purity, precision, and enduring structure.This light ruby-red Pinot Noir matured for one year in oak barrels, about half of which were new. The barrels are meticulously selected—only the very best are used for this South African red wine. A large portion of the wine is vinified with whole bunches, without destemming or crushing. This method is particularly well suited to Pinot Noir, as it allows for greater extraction of color, aroma, and structure.Look forward to an outstanding Pinot Noir best enjoyed at a serving temperature of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. If you want to taste one of the absolute top wines from South Africa, De Toren Fusion V is a must. The V stands for the 5 Bordeaux grape varieties used in the wine. The quality is on a par with the great wines from Bordeaux.After hand-picking and selecting the grapes, a long, gentle fermentation followed. Maturation took place over a period of 12 months in 50% new and 50% second-fill barrels. Barrels of 225 liters were used. (90% French and 10% American) In the glass a clear violet with a slight sparkle. The nose is characterized by blueberry, cedar, black cherry, dark chocolate and a hint of fennel. On the palate, De Toren Fusion V offers a silky fullness with a hint of sweet fruit. The overall package of well-integrated tannins, long-lasting depth, firm structure and minerality makes this wine a top product.Pair it with grilled or roasted lamb with garlic and rosemary.

The Delaire Graff Estate Banghoek Reserve Merlot is an expressive red wine from one of South Africa's best-known vineyards. In the middle of the majestic Banghoek Valley - a region that owes its name "De Bange Hoek" (the "terrible corner") to former pioneers - the Merlot grapes thrive in the highest vineyards of the Delaire Graff Estate. The special combination of altitude, slope and soil structure creates the ideal conditions for exceptionally concentrated, aromatic berries.The grapes for this Merlot are harvested exclusively by hand in the cool early morning hours. After careful selection, the grapes are gently destemmed and partially crushed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 24°C and 26°C in open fermenters, supported by a targeted combination of punchdowns and pumpovers to extract the best possible color, structure and aromas. After primary fermentation, the wine spends a further four to six weeks on the skins at 16°C - a technique that adds depth and silky tannins.The Delaire Graff Merlot then matures for 16 months in 70% new French oak barrels - this gives it structure, ageing potential and complex spicy notes without overpowering the fruit.The wine is a deep ruby red in the glass. The nose reveals complex aromas of dark plums, juicy wild berries and a hint of fine spice. On the palate, the Merlot is dense and elegant, with ripe, polished tannins and remarkable balance. The structure is firm but supple, the finish is long and characterized by dark fruit and subtle oak spice.This elegant Merlot is an ideal accompaniment to hearty meat dishes such as braised leg of lamb, fillet of beef or duck breast. It also impresses with mature hard cheese or a lentil curry with roasted aromas.
