Die spanische Bodega El Coto gehört zu den größten spanischen Weinfirmen und ist Marktführer bei der produzierten Weinmenge der Rioja-Crianzas. Seit 1971 existiert das Unternehmen und seit 1997 ist es als erstes spanisches Weinunternehmen an der Börse notiert. El Coto Weine sind beliebt, stehen für ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und finden in mehr als 50 Länder zufriedene Kunden. Die Rioja Weine reifen in den über 75.000 Barriquefässern des Weingutes und werden aus den firmeneigenen 500 Hektar Anbaufläche sowie weiteren Weinbergen von Vertragswinzern in den Regionen Rioja Alta und Alavesa gewonnen. Der Großteil des Anbaugebietes liegt in der Rioja Alta und ist durch tonhaltige Böden sowie ein günstiges Klima für den Weinanbau gekennzeichnet.

Ziel des Weingutes El Coto war es von Beginn an, die Rioja-Marke zu entwickeln und sich als führender Produzent zu positionieren. Das bedeutete, dass man sich frühzeitig hauptsächlich auf den Anbau von Tempranillo konzentrierte und ein besonders strenges Qualitätsmanagement einführte. Das Ergebnis sind qualitativ hochwertige Jahrgänge, die das Weingut El Coto weltweit bekannt gemacht haben.

The Coto de Imaz Reserva has a brick-red color with orange hues typical of Rioja. On the palate, delicate notes of berries and jam dominate, wrapped in smoky, spicy aromas and hints of vanilla. This red wine is finely balanced with noticeable yet incredibly soft and mellow tannins and an intense, complex structure. The finish is long-lasting and elegant.The grapes come primarily from the clay soils of the Rioja Alta, but also from the limestone soils of the Rioja Alavesa. After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by 16 to 18 months of aging in American oak barrels. The Coto de Imaz Reserva then matures for at least two more years in the bottle before being released for sale.It pairs excellently with game dishes, confit de canard, grilled red meat, or ham. It is also wonderful with medium-aged, not-too-sharp cheeses.

Er besteht aus einer Mischung von 90% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo und Graciano  und 5% Garnacha, die insgesamt 27 Monate in neuer und gebrauchter Eiche reifte. Danach wurde der Wein auf die Flasche gefüllt und lagerte 45 Monate bevor er in den Handel kam.
