Aus der Moselregion stammen die Trauben für den Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Riesling Superior aus der Lage Herrenberg, die sich auf 19 Hektar erstreckt. Hier dominiert der Devonschiefer. Die Weine aus dieser Lage besitzen außerordentliche Entwicklungsfähigkeit und können über Jahrzehnte reifen. Die Beeren unterliegen der Spontangärung, das heißt, dass der Gärprozess mittels in der Natur vorkommenden Hefen eingeleitet wird.Die Nase umspielen Fruchtaromen von Limettenzesten, Litschi und Grenadine. Spuren von nassem Schiefer und heftige Töne der Spontangärung ergänzen das Bouquet, das durch weiße Blüten und einer Spur Minze und Melisse abgerundet wird. Am Gaumen offenbart sich dann eine perfekte Balance aus Salzigkeit, Frucht und knackiger Säure. The "Six Flowers" symbolize the diversity of grape varieties used to compose this elegant blend - a tribute to the rich flora of the Cape region and the estate's biodiverse philosophy.In the glass, the white wine is a radiant light gold with greenish reflections. The nose is caressed by a multi-layered bouquet of white flowers, ripe pears, citrus fruits, honeydew melon and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, the Six Flowers is full-bodied, fresh and structured, with a successful balance of fruit, fine acidity and creamy texture.The blend combines six white grape varieties, typically including Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Gewürztraminer and Riesling - although the exact composition can vary slightly depending on the vintage. Burgweg is a single vineyard owned by the Neiss winery in the Northern Palatinate region. Due to the excellent microclimate, the Riesling grape variety is cultivated here. An old quarry protects this vineyard, which is characterised by the elevation’s exposure to wind and soils with high limestone content. This limestone is able to store the warmth of the day for a long time.On the nose, the wine is wonderfully fresh and stimulating, with a mild hint of yeast. On the palate, the Neiss Burgweg Riesling offers aromas of juicy raisins and noticeable grape flavours, complemented by notes of sweet honey and a salty minerality. It is full-bodied and powerful, showing a high intensity. The wonderfully balanced acidity leads to a prolonged finish. The wine initially matured for one year in the bottle before being put on the market.During the international ‘Best of Riesling’ competition in 2019 under the patronage of Rhineland-Palatinate’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Viticulture, the Neiss Burgweg Riesling was awarded the first prize in Category IV - ‘Dry Riesling wines from named individual vineyard sites’.Enjoy the Neiss Burgweg Riesling with fresh salads.
