Maximin Grünhaus

Das Moselweingut Maximin Grünhaus liegt in Grünhaus (Mertesdorf) am Ufer der Ruwer. Die Ursprünge des Weinbaus in der Gegend liegen in römischer Zeit und gehen bis auf das Jahr 633 zurück. Seinerzeit schenkte Dagobert I. dem Kloster St. Maximin in Trier die Besitztümer am Grüneberg, welche 966 von Otto I. bestätigt wurden. Bis zum Jahre 1802 wurde Maximin Grünhaus von der Benediktinerabtei bewirtschaftet und wechselte anschließend aus französischer Verwaltung in den Besitz der Familie von Stumm-Halbberg und schließlich durch Heirat in den Besitz der Familie von Schubert. Seit 1981 wird das Gut von Carl-Ferdinand von Schubert geleitet, Winzer von Beruf und in den letzten Jahren vielfach ausgezeichnet.

Maximin Grünhaus liegt am Fuße eines ausgedehnten, steilen Südhanges. Charakteristisch sind die drei prägenden Einzellagen Abtsberg, Herrenberg und Bruderberg, die sich durch Bodenart, Hangneigung und Mikroklima unterscheiden. Besonders bekannt dürfte die Lage am Abtsberg sein, an der bereits seit 1000 Jahren Reben angepflanzt werden.

Dominierende Rebsorte auf ungefähr 34 Hektar Anbaufläche ist bei Grünhaus die Riesling-Rebe, aber auch Weißburgunder und Auxerrois, eine etwas vollere und weichere Version der Pinot Blanc Rebe, wird in geringem Maße angebaut. Seit 2007 ist auch wieder zum ersten Mal seit 150 Jahren Spätburgunder zu finden. Die Bodenbedingungen sind geprägt von roten und blauen verwitterten Schieferböden, die den Weinen bei Grünhaus unverwechselbare Geschmacksmerkmale schenken.

Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG

This wine shows an excellent fullness, majestic aromas and an outstanding balance among all components, giving it ideal potential for prolonged ageing. The Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a sensational masterpiece of taste and fragrance. The Amarone has an impressive elegance, ripe fruit and an inviting bouquet. It is ruby-red in colour and shows fine hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate, the wine is impressively powerful, with warm, rich nuances of wild cherry and chocolate. The Amarone is a little jewel in the range of Zenato wines. It is made of the excellent Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina grapes, which come from the Valpolicella Classico region from the municipalities of Sant'Ambrogio, Negrar, Pedemonte, Fumane, San Pietro in Cariano and Marano. The grapes are harvested and picked by hand and subsequently dried for a period of three months. As a consequence, much of the liquid evaporates, resulting in berries that are extremely rich in sugar. After fermentation, the wine matured for 30 months in oak casks and for a further 12 months in the bottle.
