Pago de Carraovejas is a Spanish winery in the Ribera del Duero region. Pago de Carraovejas is known for its top wine, which is also called Pago de Carraovejas and is a blend of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), Cabernet Sauvignon (3%) and Merlot (3%). The wine was aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels before being bottled and released for sale. Previous vintages have already won numerous prizes and awards, making it widely regarded as one of the best wines from the Ribera del Duero region.The vines grow on soils with a limestone structure containing red clay and white loam. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 850 meters in a valley of the same name as the wine. This terroir gives the Pago de Carraovejas a unique depth. Hier hat die Familie Aibar Weingärten mit Garnacha und Syrah bestockt. In diesem reinsortigen Garnacha finden nur die besten Trauben Eingang. Das Weingut arbeitet biodynamisch und legt sich eine enge Ertragskontrolle selbst auf. So finden sich in der Regel nur 50% der Trauben aus den Weinbergen im Wein wieder. Das gewährleistet eine maximale Qualität des verbleibenden Traubenmaterials. Die Farbe ist purpurrot und der Duft sortentypisch nach dunklen Kirschen, Kaffee und Pfeffer. Am Gaumen fruchtig frisch, ja sogar leicht kühl, aber wunderbar stoffig und kraftvoll. Durch den 10-monatigen Ausbau in französischen und amerikanischen Holzfässern erhält der Prados Coleccion Garnacha eine würzige Note von Vanille und Kaffee. Pagos del Moncayo Prados Fusion Garnacha Syrah DO 2022

The Prados Fusion from the Pagos del Moncayo winery is a biodynamically vinified wine. The Garnacha and Syrah grape varieties grown exclusively by the winery are also used in this wine. One of the special features is that the grapes are crushed exclusively with bare feet. Machines are not used to press the grapes. Only around 50% of the grapes from the vineyard make it into the wine, an extreme selection that is only carried out by hand.This results in a deep dark, almost black color in the glass. The nose is dominated by notes of ripe berries, liquorice, rosemary, thyme and lavender, while on the palate the characteristic Prados Fusion is characterized by full fruit and juiciness. An approachable and open wine with round tannins and a silky finish that invites you to keep drinking.Serve the Pagos del Moncayo Prados Fusion with grilled meat or charcuterie. Pintia Toro 2020

This red wine is a pure Tinta de Toro. This is the name of this special variety of the Tempranillo grape, which achieves unmistakable qualities under the conditions of the Toro region. Even the bouquet of the Pintia Toro captivates connoisseurs with its complexity. Notes of blackcurrants and cherries interact impressively with nuances of dark chocolate and coffee. Gutiérrez says: "The nose is very expressive, with bright cherry fruit." The wine is fresher than the norm in the region, with well-integrated oak, floral and perfumed.On the palate, the top wine from Bodegas Pintia, located around 100 kilometers west of Vega Sicilia, is dry and intensely aromatic, with a medium body. The winery itself describes it as probably the "fruitiest Pintia" to date. Minerality, barrique aromas and fruitiness (blue berries) create an enchanting interplay.The impenetrable pupur-colored Pintia Toro matured for 10 months in French and American oak (18%), with more than 80 percent new barrels being used. The grapes come from vines that are on average around 35 years old. Die Trauben stammen aus einem einzigen Weinberg, der auf einer Höhe von 900 Metern liegt und den Namen Pago Carronda trägt.Triennia de Portia strahlt in einem leuchtenden Kirschrot im Glas und verströmt ein komplexes Bouquet mit reifen, dunklen Früchten, Lakritze, Karamell und Kakao. Am Gaumen ist der Wein kraftvoll, fleischig und sehr ausgewogen mit ausdrucksstarken und kräftigen Tanninen. Der Abgang ist geprägt von Röstaromen, aber eher weich und frisch. Seine Eleganz und Komplexität werden jeden Liebhaber der großen Weine der Ribera del Duero in ihren Bann ziehen. Triennia de Portia reifte 13 Monate in neuen Barriques aus französischer Eiche. Protos 27 Tinto DO 2022

The Protos 27 Tinto is an anniversary wine. Bodegas Protos is thus celebrating its 90th anniversary. In 1927, 11 winegrowers dared to plant vines in the Ribera del Duero region, which was still considered completely unreal and unsuitable at the time, and found a winery. They called it Bodega Ribera Duero. It was not until 55 years later that the name of the winery was dropped to pave the way for the establishment of the DO Ribera del Duero. As it was the first winery to be established, there was probably nothing more obvious than to name itself Protos, "the first", from the Greek.The first vintage, 2014, is a tribute to the work of the founders. By using specially developed yeasts from their own research, they are breaking new ground with this wine. The retro label and modern ageing of the wine are an impressive combination of tradition and modernity.The grapes for the Protos 27 Tinto come from Tempranillo vines, some of which are 70 years old. In addition to alcoholic fermentation at 25 degrees Celsius, malolactic fermentation took place in new French oak barrels. The wine then underwent 16 months of ageing in new French barrels and 12 months of bottle ageing.On the nose, there is plenty of fruit of black raspberry, blackberry and cherry aromas. Cocoa and tobacco notes are just as impressive as vanilla and chocolate. Lots of power, complexity, elegance and balance on the palate. The finely integrated tannins make the wine appear fresh and creamy. The harmonious interplay of all components is what makes this wine so unique.Enjoy the Protos 27 Tinto with grilled meat of all kinds. Protos Reserva DO 2020

The Protos Reserva comes from vineyards in the Ribera del Duero that are over 50 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand. This magnificent Reserva is made from 100% grapes of the Tinta del Pais variety, commonly known as Tempranillo. After the grapes were subjected to further manual selection and pressed, fermentation began on the skins at a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. The fermentation process lasted a total of 24 days. The wine then matured for 18 months, 2/3 in French and 1/3 in American oak barrels, before continuing its development for a further 24 months in the bottle.The color of the Protos Reserva is an intense dark red with almost black reflections towards the rim. On the nose, there are clear notes of black fruit, as well as toasted and spicy notes. Cinnamon, tobacco, cocoa, vanilla and wet gravel can also be perceived. Black pepper, rosemary and laurel reflect the spicy notes. Overall, the wine leaves a complex and elegant impression. On the palate, the Protos Reserva is incredibly intense and powerful. Fruitiness is complemented by roasted aromas and spicy notes. The well-integrated acidity and rounded tannins support the muscular structure, which guarantees the wine a long finish. Already a real pleasure today, the Protos Reserva will also prove its potential in later years.Braised venison, pheasant with grapes, braised wild boar, stuffed pigeon, partridge with chocolate, pigeon with nuts and roast venison are just a few of the possible dishes that Protos Reserva can be paired with. It also cuts a fine figure with mature cheese variations.
