Protos Reserva DO

The Protos Reserva comes from vineyards in the Ribera del Duero that are over 50 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand. This magnificent Reserva is made from 100% grapes of the Tinta del Pais variety, commonly known as Tempranillo. After the grapes were subjected to further manual selection and pressed, fermentation began on the skins at a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. The fermentation process lasted a total of 24 days. The wine then matured for 18 months, 2/3 in French and 1/3 in American oak barrels, before continuing its development for a further 24 months in the bottle.

The color of the Protos Reserva is an intense dark red with almost black reflections towards the rim. On the nose, there are clear notes of black fruit, as well as toasted and spicy notes. Cinnamon, tobacco, cocoa, vanilla and wet gravel can also be perceived. Black pepper, rosemary and laurel reflect the spicy notes. Overall, the wine leaves a complex and elegant impression. On the palate, the Protos Reserva is incredibly intense and powerful. Fruitiness is complemented by roasted aromas and spicy notes. The well-integrated acidity and rounded tannins support the muscular structure, which guarantees the wine a long finish. Already a real pleasure today, the Protos Reserva will also prove its potential in later years.

Braised venison, pheasant with grapes, braised wild boar, stuffed pigeon, partridge with chocolate, pigeon with nuts and roast venison are just a few of the possible dishes that Protos Reserva can be paired with. It also cuts a fine figure with mature cheese variations.

Barón de Ley Reserva
Baron de Ley Reserva - a Reserva of superlatives!Impressive, deep cherry red, almost untouched by the years of ageing. Presumably due to its higher concentration, the bouquet of this wine needs some time to open up. Then it reveals great aromatic diversity with notes of smoke and graphite against a background of red fruits and increasing complexity. On the palate, the red wine is indeed serious, fine on the palate, mineral and long, fully aromatic with a lingering fruity note on the finish. After maturing for 20 months in new American oak barrels and a further 2 years in the bottle, the Baron de Ley Reserva leaves the winery as a perfectly balanced, harmonious wine with great potential. An ideal accompaniment to roasts, game and pasta dishes.open 2 hours before drinking.

Coto de Imaz Reserva
The Coto de Imaz Rerserva is brick-colored with orange nuances typical of Rioja. Delicate notes of berries and jam dominate the palate, wrapped in smoky spice aromas and vanilla tones. This red wine is finely balanced with noticeable but incredibly soft and mild tannins and an intense, complex structure. The finish is long-lasting and elegant. The grapes come mainly from the clay soils of Rioja Alta, but also from the limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa. After the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by 16 to 18 months of ageing in American barrique barrels. The Coto de Imaz Rerserva then matures in the bottle for at least two years before being released for sale.An excellent accompaniment to game dishes, confit de canard, grilled red meat or ham. Also wonderful with medium-aged, not too spicy cheese.

Tinto Pesquera Crianza

Roda DOC Reserva
An excellent vintage in Rioja and an outstanding Roda. The composition of 89% Tempranillo, a proportion of Graciano and Garnacha smells wonderfully of sweet cherries, black fruits and nuances of Mediterranean herbs. Added to this is the wonderfully integrated oak. The deep red Roda DOC Reserva is lush and full on the palate. Very fruity at the beginning, with enormous balance and finely polished tannins. The finish of this dry red wine is again characterized by great, fresh fruitiness. The grapes come from bush vines that are more than 30 years old, i.e. vines that have not undergone wire-frame training. The Spanish wine was matured for 14 months in barriques, with 40% new and 60% second-fill barrels being used. The wine then matured for 30 months in the bottle. "This wine has the profile to become a great seller," writes Luis Gutierrez in the Wine Advocate.Discover the Roda DOC Reserva with medium to strong stews with chicken or beef, for example. Penfolds Father Grand Tawny 10 Years
With regard to the production process and the type of wine, the Penfolds Father Grand Tawny is similar to a port wine, though it is not allowed to bear the protected term ‘port’. However, this does not diminish the wine’s quality and characteristics - on the contrary, Penfolds, Australia’s most famous winery, has produced a genuine delight. The different base wines are at least 10 years old. Wines of an average of 15 different vintages unite to create the Penfolds Father Grand Tawny, thus ensuring that the nuances of each vintage produce a concentrated Tawny. The base wine is traditionally enriched with specially distilled alcohol containing between 78 and 85 of alcohol by volume, simultaneously increasing both the Tawny’s alcohol content and its complexity. In the glass, the Father Grand Tawny is a light brown of medium intensity with hints of yellow and green at the rim. On the nose, it offers wonderful notes of oak, chocolate, plums and roasted nuts, complemented by nuances of cloves and anise. On the palate, the Tawny shows its full power and elegance, offering sweet notes of fruitcake and concentrated wood aromas. Its finish is wonderfully balanced, fresh and long-lasting.The Penfolds Father Grand Tawny 10 Years is lovely on its own as an aperitif and goes beautifully with sweet desserts.

Protos 27 Tinto DO
The Protos 27 Tinto is an anniversary wine. Bodegas Protos is thus celebrating its 90th anniversary. In 1927, 11 winegrowers dared to plant vines in the Ribera del Duero region, which was still considered completely unreal and unsuitable at the time, and found a winery. They called it Bodega Ribera Duero. It was not until 55 years later that the name of the winery was dropped to pave the way for the establishment of the DO Ribera del Duero. As it was the first winery to be established, there was probably nothing more obvious than to name itself Protos, "the first", from the Greek. The first vintage, 2014, is a tribute to the work of the founders. By using specially developed yeasts from their own research, they are breaking new ground with this wine. The retro label and modern ageing of the wine are an impressive combination of tradition and modernity. The grapes for the Protos 27 Tinto come from Tempranillo vines, some of which are 70 years old. In addition to alcoholic fermentation at 25 degrees Celsius, malolactic fermentation took place in new French oak barrels. The wine then underwent 16 months of ageing in new French barrels and 12 months of bottle ageing. On the nose, there is plenty of fruit of black raspberry, blackberry and cherry aromas. Cocoa and tobacco notes are just as impressive as vanilla and chocolate. Lots of power, complexity, elegance and balance on the palate. The finely integrated tannins make the wine appear fresh and creamy. The harmonious interplay of all components is what makes this wine so unique.Enjoy the Protos 27 Tinto with grilled meat of all kinds. It is also an excellent companion for hearty stews or on its own for a relaxed evening in front of the TV.
