Raka Figurehead 2023

The Raka Figurehead seduces with a multi-layered bouquet of dark fruits such as plum, mulberry and blackcurrant, complemented by earthy notes from the forest floor and a fresh hint of eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is juicy and full-bodied, supported by aromas of red and black fruits, elegant wood notes and a fine spiciness that lingers on the long finish.This complex cuvée is made from a careful selection of fine grape varieties from the renowned Klein River Ward wine-growing region in South Africa. The grapes were all harvested by hand to ensure the highest quality.In the wine cellar, the grapes were carefully sorted and fermented with pure yeasts. Maceration lasted five days, during which the must was pumped over the skins 3-5 times a day and the cap was punched down to maximize depth of colour and aromatics. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation took place, followed by a short resting phase. The red wine then matured for 12 to 14 months in 225-liter French oak barrels before being blended, bottled and labeled.Raka Figurehead is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes such as roast beef, lamb and game, as well as mature hard cheeses and mushroom dishes. For an optimal taste experience, we recommend a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C.

Raka Happiness Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc Brut

The Raka Happiness Sparkling impresses with its light straw yellow color and lively, fresh aroma. This sparkling wine is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc and comes from the prestigious Klein River Valley wine-growing region in South Africa.On the nose, the wine reveals fresh citrus notes of grapefruit and kumquat, complemented by aromas of gooseberry and a hint of passion fruit. On the palate, it is tangy and lively with fruity lime notes and a crisp green apple finish.The grapes were harvested by hand and carefully sorted before processing. They were then placed directly into the press, where the must was left in contact with the skin for eight hours to intensify the aromas. After pressing, the juice was fermented with pure yeasts at around 16°C to ensure optimal fermentation. The wine matured after fermentation with increased yeast contact, giving it additional complexity. After natural clarification by gravity, the wine was filtered and carbonated at a pressure of 5.8 bar (at 20°C), bottled and labeled.The fresh and lively Raka Happiness Sparkling goes perfectly with light starters, seafood, sushi or as an aperitif. Enjoy it well chilled at a recommended drinking temperature of 6-8°C to bring out its fresh fruitiness.

Lively notes of strawberry and cherry unfold on the nose, delicately accompanied by a hint of candy floss. On the palate, the wine is dry, animatingly fresh and slightly tangy, with a fruity finish and well-integrated acidity.The cuvée consists of selected lots of Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc - each pressed at only 6-15% to extract the delicate rosé aromas while maintaining the balance between freshness and structure. The style is modern, dry and fruity, yet clear and uncomplicated with South African charm.All grapes were carefully harvested by hand and gently pressed immediately after sorting. The maceration time was around 4 hours in order to achieve the desired color intensity and aroma. The juice was fermented with pure yeasts at a controlled temperature of around 16 °C to preserve the freshness and fruit. Before bottling, the wine clarified naturally by gravity and was then gently filtered.Served well chilled, this rosé is ideal with light dishes: whether seafood, summer pasta, antipasti or cold platters with ham and cheese - it is versatile and also cuts an excellent figure on its own as an aperitif or sundowner.

Raka Sangiovese 2022

The single-varietal Raka Sangiovese from the Klein River Valley in South Africa combines the classic elegance of the grape variety with the powerful expressiveness of the terroir.The wine is a deep raspberry red in the glass. The bouquet is reminiscent of sweet and sour cherries, roasted tomatoes and fine herbal notes such as oregano. On the palate, the wine is wonderfully balanced with spicy, earthy undertones, which are carried by a lively, natural acidity and end in a long, aromatic finish.The hand-picked grapes were carefully selected in the vineyard and sorted a second time in the cellar. After inoculation with the pure yeast, the must was pumped over the skins several times a day during the five-day fermentation to extract color, tannin and aromas. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine was separated from the yeast, rested briefly and then underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was matured in a combination of French and Hungarian barriques.An ideal accompaniment to pasta with tomato sugo, roasted eggplant, antipasti or game birds with Mediterranean herbs. Also a delight with pizza with prosciutto or truffle oil. The recommended drinking temperature is 16-18 °C to allow the fine spice and fruit to develop to their full potential.
