Vrede en Lust White Mischief

Der Vrede en Lust White Mischief ist ein lebhafter und aromatischer Weißwein aus der Weinregion Elgin in Südafrika, der die Leichtigkeit und Finesse einer meisterhaften Cuvee in sich vereint. Der Name „White Mischief“ (weißer Unfug) leitet sich buchstäblich von den Winzern ab, die mit den 6 verschiedenen Rebsorten, aus der der Wein vinifiziert wurde, experimentierten und diese einzigartige Weißweinmischung kreierten. Die Bestandteile dieser Mischung können von Jahrgang zu Jahrgang leicht variieren, aber der gleiche schelmische Stil bleibt erhalten.

Im Glas zeigt sich der White Mischief in einem klaren, hellen Strohgelb. Die Nase wird von einer Explosion frischer Fruchtaromen verwöhnt, die an tropische Früchte wie Ananas, Litschi und Passionsfrucht erinnern, begleitet von floralen Noten und einem Hauch von Zitrus. Am Gaumen überrascht dieser Weißwein mit seiner knackigen Säure, lebendiger Frische mit Pfirsich-, Zitronen- und tropischen Aromen.  Eine feine Würze umhüllt den Abgang.

Der Vrede en Lust White Mischief eignet sich ideal als Aperitif oder als Begleiter zu leichten Gerichten wie gegrilltem Fisch, Meeresfrüchten, frischen Salaten und sommerlichen Tapas.

Vrede en Lust

Das Weingut Vrede en Lust kann auf eine lange Geschichte zurückblicken.  Im Jahr 1688 überwies der südafrikanische Gouverneur dem flämischen Händler Jacques de Savoye die Rechte an dem Land. Jacques de Savoye gründet daraufhin eine Farm und das spätere Weingut Vrede en Lust.

1996 kaufte die Familie Buys das Weingut. Im Jahr 1998 entschloss sich Dana Buys zu einer Kooperation mit seinem jüngeren Bruder Etienne Buys, um Vrede en Lust zu einem modernen Weingut zu entwickeln. So konnten die Möglichkeiten des Gutes für den Weinanbau vollständig ausgeschöpft werden. Das Weingut unterteilt sich heute in zwei Anbauflächen.

Die Vrede en Lust Weinanbauflächen liegen an den nördlichen Hängen des Simonsberg, zwischen Franschhoek und Paarl auf einer Höhe von 150 bis 280 Meter. Die höheren Weinberge bestehen aus gut durchlässigen verwitterten Granitböden. In den tiefer liegenden Gebieten findet man einen lehmartigen, abgelagerten Boden vor. Auf dem 35 ha großen Gebiet werden überwiegend rote Rebsorten angebaut. Dazu gehören die Rebsorten Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Merlot und Grenache. Zudem eine kleine Anbaufläche mit den weißen Rebsorten Viognier und Chardonnay.

Die Casey’s Ridge Anbaufläche liegt im südwestlichen Teil von Elgin. Ursprünglich war hier ein Apfelanbaugebiet. Heute werden hier fruchtbetonte Weine hergestellt. Das Gebiet ist ideal für Rebsorten die besser in kühleren Regionen gedeihen. Die Böden bestehen aus Bokkeveld Schiefer und aus Tafelbergsandstein, welches zusätzlich mit Quarz Stein zersetzt ist und die Grundlage für qualitativ hochwertigen Wein liefert.

Vrede en Lust ist aber nicht nur ein Weingut, es beherbergt zusätzlich das LUST Bistro & Bakery und ist berühmt für seine Hochzeitsfeiern.
