The pure Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa is an invitingly fresh and fruity taste experience for carefree hours. Notes of pear, green apple and pomegranate characterize the bouquet of the Waterford Estate Elgin Sauvignon Blanc. There are also mineral notes that harmoniously round off the bouquet and are typical of the terroir in Elgin.

On the palate, this South African Sauvignon Blanc, which is deliberately not aged in wood, is dry and minerally fresh, with a fine texture, crisp fruitiness and a pleasant acidity. The long-lasting, aromatic finish is underpinned by a slight saltiness.

The Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc from Springfield Estate in Robertson, South Africa, is an impressive example of the region's exceptional minerality. On the estate's extremely stony quartz soils, the vines thrive in challenging conditions, giving the wine its characteristic pebbly, mineral expression. Every step in the vineyard reflects the meticulous handiwork of Springfield Estates: the planting of the older vines required monumental efforts, sometimes even the use of dynamite, to penetrate the hard rock.The vines are planted on a gently south-facing slope with 6060 vines per hectare. The climate is characterized by moderate summers with cool nights and cold winters, while the southeast wind in summer ensures healthy, aromatic grapes. These grapes are harvested at night and immediately protected with dry ice to preserve their freshness and fine aromas. Before bottling, only a 2.5-micron filtration is carried out - a gentle treatment that preserves the natural freshness and complexity of the wine.Intense minerality meets fresh citrus and green apple notes, which are typical of Sauvignon Blanc. Winemaker Kevin Arnold is an avowed fan of the grape variety. He has also managed to create a Shiraz in the Blaauwklippen Valley in not too long a time (Waterford Estate was founded in 1998) that plays in the international premier league.The bouquet of the Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Shiraz combines multi-layered notes of dark plums with intense floral notes of violets.
