Aus der Moselregion stammen die Trauben für den Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Riesling Superior aus der Lage Herrenberg, die sich auf 19 Hektar erstreckt. Hier dominiert der Devonschiefer. Die Weine aus dieser Lage besitzen außerordentliche Entwicklungsfähigkeit und können über Jahrzehnte reifen. Die Beeren unterliegen der Spontangärung, das heißt, dass der Gärprozess mittels in der Natur vorkommenden Hefen eingeleitet wird.Die Nase umspielen Fruchtaromen von Limettenzesten, Litschi und Grenadine. Spuren von nassem Schiefer und heftige Töne der Spontangärung ergänzen das Bouquet, das durch weiße Blüten und einer Spur Minze und Melisse abgerundet wird. Am Gaumen offenbart sich dann eine perfekte Balance aus Salzigkeit, Frucht und knackiger Säure. Im Geschmack finden sich außerdem feine Ananas, Grapefruit und Salzzitrone gepaart mit verspielter Kräutrigkeit von Melisse und grünem Tee.
