Die Weinregion heißt Ceres und die Trauben für den Op Die Berg Chardonnay stammen vom Witzenberg, der auf einer Höhe von 960 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel liegt. Die Region hat ein kontinentales Klima mit kühlen Nachttemperaturen und heißeren Tagestemperaturen während der Vegetationsperiode, das zu einer langsameren Reifung und mehr konzentrierter Frucht beiträgt. Zwei renommierte Weingüter in Familienbesitz, eines aus Stellenbosch in Südafrika und das andere aus der Pfalz in Deutschland, haben sich zu einer einzigartigen Zusammenarbeit zusammengeschlossen, um einen Rieslingwein zu erzeugen, der das Engagement beider Familien für die Rebsorte Riesling und die Bedeutung von Weingütern in Familienbesitz unterstreicht.Der Staying Alive Riesling ist eine Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Pionierweingut Stellenbosch in Delheim und dem Weingut Hammel in Kirchbaum. Delheim Chenin Blanc Wild Ferment 2023

Delheim Chenin Blanc Wild Ferment has a fresh colour with a green tint. The wine shows complexity from the natural fermentation with an array of flavours. Grapefruit, orange and white peaches on the nose with subtle savoury and oak flavours. The refined and elegant palate shows restraint, with lengthy tannins and sweet fruit that will complement a variety of dishes. The grapes were handpicked, followed by crushing, de-stemming and gentle pressing. Only two thirds of the juice was settled with enzymes; the balance was taken directly to barrel for fermentation. One third of the blend was fermented cold in concrete tanks, the other two thirds in barrel. Only natural fermentation took place. The wine in the concrete tanks spent 7 months on the lees with the balance aging in French oak barrels for 7 months. A combination of 225 and 500L barrels were used of which 20% were new.Suitable for vegans.

Dickens Unexpected Chardonnay 2022

Es steckt viel im Namen dieses Weißweins von Dickens Family Wines. Ein südafrikanischer Chardonnay mit einer Vielschichtigkeit die ihresgleichen sucht. Der Winemaker Lionel Dickens schwärmte schon als kleiner Junge für die Natur und Landschaft seiner Heimat Südafrika. Da war es in gewisser Weise fast vorgegeben, dass er mit den Elementen der Erde arbeiten würde. In dem Produkt Wein fand er schnell sein Aktivitätenfeld. Nachdem er viele Jahre in verschiedenen Bereichen der Weinindustrie gearbeitet hat, hat Lionel Dickens damit begonnen seine eigenen Weine zu produzieren. Dabei lässt er sich von der klassischen Tradition inspirieren, versucht so wenig wie möglich in den natürlichen Prozess einzugreifen um Ausgewogenheit, Eleganz und vor allem eine interessante Herkunftsgeschichte der Weine widerzuspiegeln.Der Dickens Unexpected Chardonnay zeigt definitiv die Kühle der Gegend Koekenaap. Diese eher unbekannte Weinregion Südafrikas liegt etwa 350 Kilometer nördlich von Kapstadt und wird von den kalten Winden des Atlantiks beeinflusst. Die Weinberge liegen in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Fluss Olifants River, was eine gute Wasserversorgung der Reben sicherstellt. Es handelt sich beim Unexpected Chardonnay um einen kalkigen und saftigen, vollmundigen Weißwein. Er zeigt gelbe Birne und Butterscotch mit einem Hauch von Zitrusgeschmack. Am Gaumen hinterlässt der Wein ein weiches, cremiges Mundgefühl.Für uns sind die Weine von Dickens „die“ Entdeckung des Jahres 2023 aus Südafrika.
