The freshly harvested, overripe grapes are partially dried so that some of the water evaporates, leading to a higher sugar concentration. The Lu Li Appassimento from the Masca del Tacco estate is wonderfully fruity, well-balanced and full-bodied on the palate, with a long finish.You’ll want to discover this blend consisting of Primitivo and Negroamaro with grilled meat, polenta, savoury first courses and medium-aged cheese as well. The Matsu El Recio is a vegan, biodynamically cultivated red wine. The grapes come from vines that are 90 to 100 years old. Fermentation ensued in stainless steel tanks for a period of 3 weeks, while the subsequent malolactic fermentation was carried out in French oak casks. The wine was aged for 14 months in French oak casks as well. This Crianza was not filtered and was gently clarified, resulting in an exceptionally sophisticated and full-bodied wine. The Matsu El Recio offers intense fragrances of chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit. On the palate, the wine is silky and round. The subtle finish is characterised by a special creaminess and mineral, fruity notes. The characteristic power of the Toro wines is combined with a superb softness on the palate.This filigree Matsu El Recio goes beautifully with grilled dishes and hearty stews.

The Toro region in northwestern Spain is renowned for intense and powerful wines. The Matsu El Viejo is additionally equipped with elegance and finesse, reflecting the flawless artistry of winemaking with the Tempranillo grape, which is known as Tinta de Toro in this region.The Matsu El Viejo, which means ‘the old man’, is a selection of grapes from vineyards that are more than 100 years old. The vines in these low-yield vineyards are biodynamically cultivated. After the fermentation and the subsequent malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 16 months in French oak casks. The wine was deliberately not filtered, thus preserving its full aroma structure. The Matsu El Viejo is a deep cherry-red in the glass with purple glints on the rim. It has a wonderfully intense bouquet of black fruit. Due to the ageing in casks, the Matsu El Viejo shows roast aromas and notes of smoke and spices that are wonderfully structured and integrated. On the palate, the wine is fleshy, ripe and round. The noticeable but fine tannins give the El Viejo a light sweetness. The finish is once again characterised by the harmony between fruit and wood aromas.The Matsu El Viejo is a typical accompaniment to meals, and stands up well to  hearty sauces and intensely flavoured grilled dishes. We recommend trying this amazing wine with blue cheeses.

One of the forerunners of the Supertuscans, first created by Mazzei in 1981, and still an outstanding red wine from Chianti today: the Mazzei Concerto Di Fonterutoli is also a composition in the 2020 vintage that is exuberantly celebrated by international wine critics. In this quality class, it is almost a bargain from Castello di Fonterutoli, located around 20 kilometers north of Siena.The Concerto Di Fonterutoli is a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The bouquet of this Italian red wine is exceptionally multifaceted. "An extremely aromatic red wine," writes James Suckling, who awards it 96 points. After opening the bottle, you can look forward to the scent of blackcurrants, dark plums and ripe cherries. These notes harmonize perfectly with the scent of herbs, earthy tones and a beautiful spiciness (white pepper) as well as nuances of leather and a fine minerality.Dry and powerful on the palate, with a variety and depth of flavors that are not easily found a second time. "Full-bodied and yet so crisp and juicy on the palate with crushed blackberries and raspberries. Citrus-influenced acidity," says Suckling. Monica Larner, who awarded the Concerto Di Fonterutoli 94 points in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, writes: "There is plenty of sweet fruit on the palate, followed by beautifully integrated, dry tannins." The finish lingers for a long time and is engagingly elegant.A guarantee of enjoyment in the "exceptional wine" category until 2040. The Concerto Di Fonterutoli matured for 18 months in oak, with the Sangiovese being aged in tonneaux (500 liter barrels) and the Cabernet Sauvignon in French oak barriques (225 liter barrels). This was followed by a three-month refinement of the blend in cement tanks.Finally, these words from wine critic Antonio Galloni about the Mazzei Concerto Di Fonterutoli 2020 (95 points): "The 2020 is a beautiful wine that captures the essence of the house style wonderfully. Today, the purity of the fruit really jumps out of the glass. Outstanding." Happy to uncork a bottle of this Italian red wine from the Mazzei family.

"Monumental": that's what the makers of Castello di Fonterutoli themselves write about their Mazzei Siepi 2020. And what can we say: they're right. The red wine from Tuscany is an outstanding creation. The blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Merlot from the Chianti Classico region has enchanted international wine critics. "An exceptionally beautiful wine. I love it," says Decanter (98 points), for example, while Monica Larner writes in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (95 points): "The Mazzei 2020 Siepi is a magnificent vintage."The bouquet of the Italian red wine seduces with its complexity and the wonderful interplay of fruit, spice and floral notes. "Graphite and pencil come through, along with violets and blackberries. Also some tar and asphalt," writes James Suckling, who awards 98. Castello di Fonterutoli itself discovers crunchy elderberries, plums, berries, sandalwood and tobacco on the nose, while Decanter says of the bouquet: "Dried herbs and sweet spices on the nose, forest notes with blackberry fruit, concentrated and expressive." Cherry notes also characterize the bouquet.On the palate, the Mazzei Siepi 2020 is dry, wonderfully soft and at the same time crisp and fresh, with impressive elegance and depth. The fruitiness is fascinating. "Such a smooth transition on the palate, the tannins glide over the tongue and give the sweet strawberry, raspberry and plum fruit time to expand in the mouth," enthuses Decanter. Aromas of blueberry and blackberry also enrich the play of flavors. Everything is round and in perfect balance, with a fabulous length.This Super Tuscan matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which were new barrels. The Merlot was matured in barriques (225 liter barrels), the Sangiovese in tonneaux (500 liter barrels). The blend was then aged for three months in cement tanks.The Mazzei Siepi 2020 is already a real treat. However, it has enormous ageing potential. Suckling writes: "Already ready to drink, but will age gracefully for decades." The makers of Castello di Fonterutoli expect it to age for more than 20 years.Enjoy the Mazzei family's creation with a fine blue cheese. More pleasure is not possible.

‘Mea Culpa’ means ‘my fault’. Mario Minini from the Cantine Minini estate used this expression ironically to name his outstanding red wine. In his opinion, he created the best cuvée that can be made using the Appassimento method.The Mea Culpa Vino Rosso in an extraordinary wine in all respects. The Primitivo, Shiraz and Merlot grapes for the Appassimento cuvée come from two very different wine-growing regions in Italy. The Primitivo grapes come from Apulia, of course, while the Shiraz and Merlot grapes come from Sicily, wonderfully uniting to create this excellent blend. The responsible wine-maker Mario Minini and his team of oenologists worked on the optimal composition of this blend for a long time. The result is a medium-dry red wine, offering an abundance of aromas on the nose.Fine notes of chocolate, nuances of tobacco and strong fruit aromas of blackberries, strawberries and dark cherries unite with notes of mocha and vanilla. On the palate, the wine shows a vivid acidity and a fine tannin structure. The full but elegant body has an exquisite structure. Due to the ageing in 225-litre oak casks made of French oak, the Mea Culpa Vino Rosso offers notes of vanilla and tobacco in its finish.It is an ideal accompaniment to meals. It goes beautifully with gnocchi or homemade spaetzle with beef roulade and cabbage vegetables.Enjoy this Primitivo from Sicily at a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C (46.4-50.0 °F).
