The Meerlust Red is an elegant red wine cuvée from Stellenbosch that perfectly reflects the terroir and expertise of the famous Meerlust wine estate. As the "second wine" of the legendary Meerlust Rubicon, this blend offers a more accessible yet complex alternative with intense fruit, fine spice and a smooth tannin structure.The grapes for the Meerlust Red come from the same first-class vineyards as the Rubicon. The cuvée usually consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, although Malbec or Petit Verdot may also be added depending on the vintage. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels to give it additional depth and elegance.In the glass, the Meerlust Red is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by ripe dark berries, black cherries and cassis, complemented by subtle notes of cedar wood, spices and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is harmonious and supple with soft tannins, lively acidity and a long, spicy finish.This South African cuvée is an ideal accompaniment to grilled beef, lamb or hearty stews. Perfect as a gift: 1.5 liters of top South African wine in a gift tube.A super dark ruby red in the glass, almost opaque. A light orange hue shimmers at the edge of the glass. A smoky aroma rises to the nose. Nach einer Standzeit von bis zu 18 Tagen auf der Maische reift er über zehn Monate in zwei bis vier Jahre alten Barriques.Heraus kommt ein Wein mit Finesse, der den mineralischen Charakter der Schieferböden widerspiegelt und gleichzeitig ein solides Gerbstoffgerüst mit feinen Holznoten aufweist. In der Nase werden Sie dunkle Beeren finden, eine leicht blumige Note und einen dezenten Gewürzton. Am Gaumen überzeugt der Spätburgunder durch einen langen, eleganten Abgang.Genießen Sie den Wein leicht gekühlt bei einer Temperatur von 16 °C. Der Michele Chiarlo Tortoniano Nebbiolo Barolo ist ein wunderbares Beispiel für diese hohe Qualität.Der Rotwein von Michele Chiarlo schimmert im Glas in einem mittleren rubinrot. Das Bukett des Tortoniano Nebbiolo Barolo ist herrlich facettenreich. Noten von roten Früchten, Rosenblättern und Wacholderbeeren harmonieren wunderbar mit einer feinen Würze und Nuancen von Röstaromen. „Erdig und köstlich, öffnet sich mit Aromen von reifen dunkelhäutigen Beeren, neuem Leder, Trüffel und gerebelten botanischen Kräutern“, urteilt Kerin O’Keefe, die im Wine Enthusiast 95 Punkte vergibt. Montes Alpha Syrah 2022

The Montes Alpha Syrah from the Vina Montes winery comes from Chile, from the Colchagua Valley region to be precise. This wine is particularly balanced and smooth.The dry red wine presents itself in an elegant red color with black-purple reflections. On the nose, the Syrah smells of black cherries, ripe plums and red fruits such as strawberries. Slightly smoky, sweet tobacco notes suggest elegance. On the palate, the Chilean red wine is very velvety, peppered with fine spicy notes. Due to its ageing in French oak barrels, notes of toast and crème brûlée are also present. Purple Angel is a selection of our best Carmenère selected from our two Estates (50% sourced from Apalta, were its sunny vineyards give elegance to the wine and 50% from our Marchigue Estate, a coastal cool weather vineyard that produces low yields naturally and provides strength, concentration and a deep, intense carmine color to it. A fantastic wine that blends both elegance and powerPurple Angel showcases the spicy touches typical of Carmenère, with ripe, gentle and soft tannins, it’s a full bodied, concentrated wine that combines red berries and dark chocolate on the mouth with alluring cigar box, blackberries and plums aromas on the noseThe wine is blended with a touch of Petit Verdot to enhance its structure, color and cellaring potential. A mouth filling wine with a very long finish, definitely a unique Carmenère!Denomination of Origin: Purple Angel is a blend of 92% Carmenère and 8% Petit Verdot from the Colchagua Valley. Winemaking: Grapes are carefully hand picked. The clusters go through a grape by grape selection made by hand with a team of 14 people, in which only good fruit is allowed into the tank. During the 18 months of barrel aging in new French oak barrels, the wine is racked 3 times to get rid of lees, and allow some oxygen to interfere in the evolution and maturation of this wine.When the final blend is made, if the wine is totally clear, and has no microbiological pressure, there is no need for filtration or fining….so the wine goes unfiltered to the bottling process.Decant for at least an hour for better enjoyment, allowing the wine to open up.

The Morca Garnacha from Bodegas Morca is an expressive red wine from the D.O. Campo de Borja, made from 100% Garnacha grapes.With Bodegas Morca, the Gil family has set itself the task of bringing out the full potential of the Garnacha grape variety. With creations such as Morca, they have succeeded impressively. This Spanish red wine is a small feast for the senses.The pure Garnacha has an intense and phenomenally multi-faceted aroma of plums, black cherries and cassis. There are also notes of licorice, eucalyptus and pepper that enrich the bouquet. Nuances of vanilla, coffee and smoke round off the bouquet.The Morca is dry and incredibly powerful on the palate. The red wine from the D.O. Campo de Borja has a backbone of ripe, supple tannins, a very good balance and an impressive length. Morgenster Lourens River Valley 2020

In line with tradition, Morgenster also produces a second Bordeaux-style wine in South Africa. The Morgenster Lourens River Valley is a blend consisting of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grape varieties, produced with the advisory assistance of Pierre Lurton from Chateau Cheval Blanc in Bordeaux. The philosophy aims at creating an accessible wine that particularly reflects the fruit aromas so typical of the terroir, and simultaneously ensuring longevity. The wine is a bright, opaque ruby-red in the glass. On the nose, it offers lovely cherry aromas, complemented by notes of strawberry tarts and cassis. After the Morgenster Lourens River Valley has breathed for a while, it shows aromas of liquorice, vanilla and spices, accompanied by fruity nuances of plums, mulberries and raspberries. The wine is silky and smooth on the palate, offering a delicious fruity sweetness. The elegant tannins develop a lovely balance between ripe berry aromas and a great freshness. Henry Kotze, cellar master at Morgenster, speaks of a worthwhile wine that gains in complexity after it is decanted.The Morgenster Lourens River Valley goes beautifully with roast duck, poultry and ostrich. It is also a perfect accompaniment to risotto with wild mushrooms or roast lamb.

Morgenster Nabucco Nebbiolo 2014

Wenn man die Geschichte dahinter kennt, sehr gut können wir da nur sagen. Giulio Bertrand, geborener Italiener, kaufte 1992 das Weingut Morgenster. Nach erster Restaurierung stand er hinter dem alten Herrenhaus und sah auf einen Hügel. Der Hügel erinnerte ihn an seine Heimat und so er beschloss eine heimatliche Rebsorte dort anzubauen und das war eben die Traube Nebbiolo.Die Trauben des Nabucco Nebbiolo stammen aus einem einzigen 1,6 ha großen Weinberg. Dieser raffinierte, tief nuancierte Wein drückt bemerkenswerte Eleganz und große Kraft dieser berühmten norditalienischen Rebsorte aus. Dieser Wein hat eine helle Farbe und einen hohen Säuregehalt. Er ist vollmundig und passt hervorragend als Essensbegleiter. Seine erdige Struktur erinnert an einen Pinot Noir, allerdings mit mehr Geschmack und Kraft. Im Abgang wunderbar weich und stoffig. Ein südafrikanischer Nebbiolo also: der Morgenster Nabucco Nebbiolo. Da hilft nur probieren!
