This deep ruby-red wine from Apulia is redolent of wild berries, red blossoms, Mediterranean herbs, humus and eucalyptus. Its exceptional bouquet is also the result of the traditional Appassimento method, a special drying process of the grapes. The freshly harvested, overripe grapes are partially dried so that some of the water evaporates, leading to a higher sugar concentration. The Lu Li Appassimento from the Masca del Tacco estate is wonderfully fruity, well-balanced and full-bodied on the palate, with a long finish.

You’ll want to discover this blend consisting of Primitivo and Negroamaro with grilled meat, polenta, savoury first courses and medium-aged cheese as well. This is a wonderful wine based on the traditional art of Apulian viticulture and its particular conditions.

Masca del Tacco

Bereits 1949 gründeten Weinbauern die Genossenschaft Masca del Tacco in Erchie, einer Gemeinde im Norden der Halbinsel Salento in der Weinbauregion Apulien in Italien. Die Jahreszahl der Gründung findet man immer auch auf den Etiketten der Weine, es sei denn, die erfolgreiche einheimisch Rebe Primitivo soll aus Marketingzwecken „Zinfandel“ heißen.

Initiiert wurde die Genossenschaft seinerzeit von Don Giuseppe Laviano, dem Baron von Erchie und Erbauer des berühmten Palazzo Ducale von Erchie. Dokumente belegen, dass in dem Palazzo die Weinherstellung bereits seit 1736 erfolgte.

Angebaut werden heute vorwiegend die Rebsorten Negroamaro, Primitivo sowie Fiano, eine alten Rebsorte aus der Region Kampanien bei Neapel, die starke weiße Weine hervorbringt.

Die Masca del Tacco in der heutigen Form gehört zum Unternehmen Poggio Le Volpi und wurde im Jahr 2010 von Armando und Felice Mergè gegründet.

Apulien ist eine der bekanntesten Weinanbauregionen von Italien und profitiert von den klimatischen und geographischen Bedingungen. Das mediterrane Klima, die Nähe zum adriatischen Meer auf der einen Seite und zum Ionischen Meer auf der anderen sowie die kalkhaltigen Unterböden schaffen perfekte Voraussetzungen für den Weinbau. Die heißen Sommer begünstigen die Reifung der Trauben, die bei Masca del Tacco meist tief dunkle, erdige und kräftige Weine hervorbringt.

The Masca del Tacco Susumaniello is an example of exceptional Apulian viticulture. Both the autochthonous Susumaniello grape variety and the particular soils consisting of red earths rich in organic substances contribute to this extraordinary taste experience. After meticulous harvesting by hand and gentle pressing, the grapes matured in steel tanks and wooden casks of different fills.The Masca del Tacco Susumaniello is a dark ruby-red in the glass with violet glints. On the nose, it offers nuances of bilberries and other ripe red fruit, underpinned by light notes of wood and aromas of red blossoms. On the palate, the wine shows noticeable roast aromas and notes of aromatic herbs. It is powerful yet elegant, with ripe tannins. This wonderfully intense red wine from Apulia offers majestic notes of blueberries and blackberries, well rounded off by hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and warm, with lovely, sweet nuances. Using the traditional Appassimento method, the grapes ripen beyond the ripeness date and dry on the vines. They shrivel almost to the size of a raisin, thus gaining aromas, acidity and a higher sugar concentration. The exceptionally rich wines produced from these grapes are characterised by an intense bouquet offering notes of dried fruit. Der Camivini Tank Nº 26 Nero d'Avola Appassimento IGT aus Sizilien wird aus der für Sizilien typischen Rebsorte Nero d'Avola hergestellt. Von den Einheimischen wird diese Rebsorte „Principe Siciliano“ (sizilianischer Prinz) genannt. Der Ausbau erfolgt im hölzernem Gärtank. In der Nase Aromen von Frucht und Mandeln. Am Gaumen ist der italienische Rotwein leicht und trocken mit Aromen von Rosinen, Backpflaumen und mediterranen Gewürzen. Der lange Abgang hat eine dezente Schokoladennote.Das besondere an diesem Appassimento ist, dass die Trauben direkt am Rebstock trocknen. Sie werden erst geerntet, wenn sie den Großteil des Wassers verloren haben. So entsteht eine dichte und intensive Aromatik mit einer leichten Rosinennote und harmonischer Restsüße. Diese Methode wird TANK-Verfahren genannt - eine neue Auslegung des Appassimento-Verfahrens. The grappa was produced in discontinuous coppers using the meticulous Bagnomaria distillation method. Production area: Selected vineyards of Neviera and Casa Rossa, located in San Marzano district. The soil is mainly “terra rossa”, with a fine texture and generally a calcareous undergound with a few emerging rocks. The well-known redness of these soils is due to the presence of iron oxides. The climate is characterised by high temperatures all year round, very few rainfalls and a wide difference of temperature between night and day, which has a nice influence on the quality of grapes.
