Gérard Bertrand’s La Grande Bleue IGP Méditerranée is a fresh, aromatic organic white wine from southern France that captures the Mediterranean way of life in a bottle. The cuvée blends the grape varieties Rolle, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The interplay of southern French grape varieties and the maritime influence of the Mediterranean shapes the lively, fruit-forward character of this white wine.
To preserve the freshness and aromatic diversity of the grapes, the harvest takes place during the coolest hours of the day. Each grape variety is vinified separately and only then blended into the cuvée. Fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Aging in wooden barrels is deliberately avoided so that the fruit and variety-typical aromas remain unadulterated.
On the nose, La Grande Bleue unfolds a fresh bouquet of pear, peach, and citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit, complemented by delicate notes of white flowers and hawthorn. The Viognier contributes a subtle exotic nuance. On the palate, this Mediterranean white wine is lively and refreshing, with juicy pear and peach flavors, a delicate minerality, and an elegant, salty note in the long finish.
As a versatile organic white wine from southern France, La Grande Bleue pairs superbly with seafood, grilled fish, and summer salads. Light Mediterranean dishes, such as a vegetable tian with cream cheese, also harmonize perfectly with its fresh aromas. An ideal companion for sunny days and light Mediterranean cuisine.
