Gérard Bertrand’s Orange Gold is a characterful orange wine made from organically grown grapes. The cuvée blends seven grape varieties of Mediterranean origin, including Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Mauzac, and Muscat.The white wine grapes are fermented whole after careful monitoring of their ripeness. Vinification follows a traditional method similar to that used for red wine: the grapes macerate along with their skins and stems, resulting in the characteristic orange-gold color and delicate tannins. The blend of grape varieties lends the wine both body and aromatic complexity.On the nose, the Orange Gold is complex and expressive, with notes of white flowers, candied fruit, and white pepper. On the palate, it combines aromatic freshness with precise fruit flavors and a balanced, full-bodied structure. Its smooth, delicate texture is accompanied by a long finish with a subtle, stimulating hint of bitterness.As a characterful orange wine, it is excellent as an aperitif and with cheese platters. Glen Carlou Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

The Glen Carlou Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Paarl wine region on Simonsberg in the Western Cape. The grapes for this wine are hand-harvested from ten different vineyard plots around Simonsberg. The varying locations and exposures of the individual plots allow for a complex blend, with each lot treated separately until the final blending.After hand-harvesting, the individual lots are first cold-macerated for at least five days. Fermentation then takes place in medium-sized open stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over, followed by a total of twelve days on the skins. A yeast strain is used for fermentation that enhances the fruit-forward character of the respective vineyard sites. The individual lots are then aged for 16 months, primarily in second-fill French oak barrels, before being blended into the final cuvée.On the nose, the wine displays ripe aromas of blackberries and cherries. On the palate, these dark fruit notes blend with complex hints of mint and dark chocolate. Fine, silky, and rounded tannins, along with a lively acidity reminiscent of pomegranate, lend it volume and depth, leading to a long, intense finish.The Glen Carlou Cabernet Sauvignon pairs excellently with grilled or braised beef, lamb, and game. It is also a harmonious accompaniment to hearty dishes with dark sauces and aged hard cheeses.

Le Moulin Rose de Malescasse Haut-Médoc AOP 2022

Le Moulin Rose de Malescasse is the second wine of Château Malescasse in the Haut-Médoc. Named after the estate’s historic windmill, the grapes for this cuvée come from plots in its immediate vicinity. The blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot gives the wine a balanced and elegant style typical of the Médoc. Its silky texture makes it pleasantly approachable even in its youth.The blend consists of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45.5% Merlot, and 5.5% Petit Verdot. After destemming, the grapes are selected by hand and vinified by plot in small wooden and concrete tanks. No pre-crushing is performed. The maceration period lasts up to four weeks, during which the tannins are gently extracted by carefully punching down the cap and performing brief pump-overs. The wine is then aged for twelve months, primarily in one- and two-year-old oak barrels, with one-third aged in large wooden tanks.On the nose, the wine displays intense aromas of elderberries, black currants, blackberries, and fresh blue raspberries, accompanied by a subtle, gently integrated woody note. On the palate, it is lively and elegant, with fine tannins, good structure, and a long finish.Le Moulin Rose de Malescasse pairs excellently with grilled or pan-seared beef, lamb, and game dishes. Montes Wings Carmenère 2021

The Montes Wings Carmenère is one of Chile's top wines and comes from the exclusive vineyards of Finca Apalta in the Colchagua Valley. The vines grow on steep slopes, around 200 meters above the plains of the valley, on deep granite soils with a high clay content, excellent drainage and a south-westerly orientation. This unique combination ensures controlled temperatures during the hot summer days and a particularly even ripening of the grapes. The grapes are fully exposed through targeted foliage work, which increases the concentration of aromas and reduces the typical bitter substances of this variety.The grapes are harvested by hand, individually selected and transported to the winery in 10 kg crates. During processing, the best grapes are first selected and destemmed before further selection of the berries takes place - only the optimally ripened grapes make it into the wine. This is followed by 5-7 days of cold maceration at 10 °C to gently extract aromas and color. Alcoholic fermentation is then carried out over 12-15 days at 26-29 °C with selected yeasts in order to preserve the characteristic properties of the Carmenère grape.After fermentation, the red wine remains on the skins for a while to develop volume and depth before being filled into French oak barrels. 80% of the wine matures in new barrels, 20% in second to third use barrels, for a total of 16 months. This ageing gives the wine elegant tannins, depth and complexity.In the glass, Montes Wings has a deep crimson color. The nose seduces with intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as plums, sour cherries and blackberries, complemented by fine spicy notes, cassis liqueur and hints of pastry. Subtle roasted aromas, vanilla, slightly sweet liqueur nuances and roasted nuts result from the long barrel ageing. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, silky and harmonious, with soft, perfectly integrated tannins and a long-lasting, complex finish.This Carmenère is an excellent accompaniment to fine meat dishes, such as lamb chops with rosemary, pork ribs or refined cannelloni. It is also an ideal choice with braised beef dishes and autumnal game dishes. Serve at 17-19 °C and ideally decant about 30 minutes before drinking to allow the aromas to develop to their full potential.
