The Delaire Graff Estate Banghoek Reserve Merlot is an expressive red wine from one of South Africa's best-known vineyards. In the middle of the majestic Banghoek Valley - a region that owes its name "De Bange Hoek" (the "terrible corner") to former pioneers - the Merlot grapes thrive in the highest vineyards of the Delaire Graff Estate. The special combination of altitude, slope and soil structure creates the ideal conditions for exceptionally concentrated, aromatic berries.The grapes for this Merlot are harvested exclusively by hand in the cool early morning hours. After careful selection, the grapes are gently destemmed and partially crushed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 24°C and 26°C in open fermenters, supported by a targeted combination of punchdowns and pumpovers to extract the best possible color, structure and aromas. After primary fermentation, the wine spends a further four to six weeks on the skins at 16°C - a technique that adds depth and silky tannins.The Delaire Graff Merlot then matures for 16 months in 70% new French oak barrels - this gives it structure, ageing potential and complex spicy notes without overpowering the fruit.The wine is a deep ruby red in the glass. The nose reveals complex aromas of dark plums, juicy wild berries and a hint of fine spice. On the palate, the Merlot is dense and elegant, with ripe, polished tannins and remarkable balance. The structure is firm but supple, the finish is long and characterized by dark fruit and subtle oak spice.This elegant Merlot is an ideal accompaniment to hearty meat dishes such as braised leg of lamb, fillet of beef or duck breast. It also impresses with mature hard cheese or a lentil curry with roasted aromas.

Delheim Grand Reserve 2020

The grapes for Delheim Grand Reserve 2020 were harvested by hand in small batches, with only the best grapes being processed. The juice was fermented in a combination of open-top fermenters and vertical stainless steel tanks. After extraction, the wine matured for 18 months in 300-liter French oak barrels.The complex bouquet of this cuvée of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12.5% Cabernet Franc, 12.5% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot is dominated by blackberries and blackcurrants, followed by notes of tobacco and tomato leaf, fresh pencil shavings and cassis. On the palate, this red wine from South Africa is elegantly balanced with flavors of dark red fruits and a soft, chalky tannic finish typical of the region.Enjoy this powerful, fruity blend from the Stellenbosch region at a drinking temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. Delheim Merlot 2022

The Delheim Merlot grapes come from vines up to 20 years old from a vineyard called Peperboom Vineyard. The Peperboom, which means pepper tree or pepper bush, was originally planted here. The grapes were harvested in two stages in order to achieve the maximum concentration of tannins and color. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks using selected yeast strains. The temperature during the fermentation process was between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius. The juice was then stored on the skins for a further 18 days and then matured for 12 months in French oak barrels.Notes of tobacco, red fruits with cloves and cinnamon are clearly recognizable on the nose. The Delheim Merlot is an elegant wine with a subtle structure and silky tannins. Full-bodied on the palate with an unusual freshness reminiscent of blueberry and plum flavors.Ageing in the bottle for 3 to 4 years allows the wine to reach optimum maturity. Certainly a delight with roast chicken or mushroom soup.

The Donier Donatus is a masterful cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, sourced exclusively from the Dornier vineyard on the sun-drenched slopes of Stellenbosch Mountain. The unique combination of red, weathered granite soil and clay-rich soils ensures that the grapes ripen slowly and evenly. The result is a profound wine of impressive concentration and fine elegance.The hand-picked grapes are carefully selected in the cellar and fermented separately. Fermentation takes place in open fermentation vats with pumping over four times a day to ensure optimum extraction while preserving the fruit aromas. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, a third of which are new barrels - this gives the wine a fine spiciness and complexity without masking the freshness. The harmonious blending only takes place after maturation, so that only the best components make it into the bottle.In the glass, Donier Donatus impresses with an intense black-violet color and a multi-faceted aroma of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry.
