Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block is an unmistakable taste experience from South Africa. On the nose, this dry blend of almost three quarters Syrah (Shiraz) and smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Viognier combines a variety of notes: Intense cherry notes, cardamom, sweet tobacco, espresso and a hint of perfume come together here. Full-bodied and round on the palate, with very good structure, refreshing acidity, a smoky minerality and aromas of black olives, as well as licorice and ripe plums.The vegan wine from the Franschhoek region was matured in oak for 16 months, with 10% new barrels being used.This exceptional red wine is ideal with pasta and pizza, dark meat (roasted or grilled), smoked meats or medium-strength cheese or hard cheese at a drinking temperature of 18°C.Also available in a 1.5-liter magnum bottle.
